WALTERS SET FOR SHARPE, THEN VANDA?

"JungleBoy" Zach Walters (24-4) is putting the finishing touches on his preparation for this Friday night at the Target Center in Minneapolis. Walters, 28, brings his fists to the Twin Cities for the first time in three years as he is set to face tough former WBA North American champion Larry "Razor" Sharpe (23-7) in the co-feature to Joey Abell vs Raphael Butler.

Many consider this to be a make or brake fight for Walters but rumors are in the air that Walters could be facing Saint Paul ironman Matt Vanda in January.

Last week, "The Predator" released a media statement directed at Walters that challenged the Duluth fighter to a showdown.
"I want Walters" said Vanda bluntly. "I stepped up and beat his rival (Phil Williams). If he wants it, come and get it."

Walters spoke with MinnesotaBoxing.com off the record about the topic but stated that he wants to concentrate 100% on what lies immediately ahead, Larry Sharp, until after the fight. However, representatives of team Walters informed us moments ago that they will except the challenge to face Vanda in January, win or lose this Friday.
