FRWILLSHAUN BOXLEY VS RONNY RIOS
As seen by Phil Spade at Ringside
February 1st, 2010

Willshaun had the services of Roger Mayweather in the corner last night. Ronny Rios is a very strong and very good fighter. He kept coming at Wil, and was very strong. There were a few people there for Wilshaun, which was great to see. He was introduced as being from Coon Rapids, Missouri. I called the emcee a dumbass as loud as i could. ( Ive been sick lately, and lost my voice around the 4th round of this fight---the Missouri comment did not help--I was upset.)

So, the first two rounds were pretty even. I give the first round to Wil, and I thought the 2nd round was pretty even with both guys getting their shots in. Wil did not start slow this night--he was getting some great shots in. The third round was all Wilshaun--with no doubt.

I'd say in the last three rounds, to be honest, I thought Rios was probably the busier of the two fighters but not by a dominating performance. Just a bit busier. One thing I noticed, and if Wil comes on here, he can explain---he was fighting with his mouth open the last three rounds but didn't necessarily look tired, just had the mouth open--can't put my finger on it, but the last three rounds just appeared to be a different fighter. Wil, was something going on?

Rios is a very very good fighter. I thought Wil fought very well. Tough night for MN boxers, but Wil fought tough. Proud of him.

Harley Kilfian vs Gayrat Ahmedov
Harley started off the night, and was fighting well until getting caught with what appeared to be a kidney shot. He went down for a little bit, and i have to say I was a bit shocked to see him get stopped in 1. Damn a tough night for MN.
