BOXING: Alexandria’s First Boxing Show in 40 Years This Sat.
Nordic Warriors Boxing Academy of Alexandria, MN will host a night of amateur boxing on Saturday, June 29, 2019. This will be the first amateur boxing show to take place in Alexandria in 40 years. Nordic Warriors Owner and former boxer/mixed martial artist Corey Thompson says there will be around 20 high paced boxing matches with fighters from Minnesota, North Dakota and even Iowa expected to particapate.
“The main event will be a rematch of the regional golden glove championship match at heavyweight between Ezra Andersen of Nordic Warriors and Saint Cloud’s Avery Miller” said Thompson. “It will be for a championship belt we have created for every main event we put on in Alexandria and the name of the event is “Way of the Warrior”. There will be a professional announcer, spotlights on the ring and the show will be done very professionally. We have 8 clubs so far with fighters competing including one gym (Reds Boxing) from Iowa and we are scheduling 20 matches”.
Thompson has not ruled out returning to the ring or cage someday but says he is focussed on his gym and putting on boxing shows now. 600-800 people are expected to attend tomorrow night. To avoid lines and miss out on a seat you can purchase tickets in advance at the gym or at Fat Daddy’s in Alexandria.
The show will take place at the Broadway Ballroom Event Center located at 115 30th Ave E, Alexandria, Minnesota 56308 with the action kicking off at 5 PM.
