Anthony Bonsante went from Contender villain to hero with boxing fans after his highly controversial decision loss to Jesse Brinkley last October in the pairs rematch. Bonsante seemed to outbox Brinkley throughout the bout to most observers that night but when the scores were announced it was Brinkley’s hands that were raised. Victory is sweet but for Bonsante, defeat may actually have proven sweeter in this case. Bonsante walked into the ring greeted with boos but left the arena to cheers that night. Hajicek Returns Jan. 6th! “Maddog” Butch Hajicek will be fighting in Illinois on January 6th. Hajicek, who is coming off of a sixth round tko over Detroit Lakes Chris Holt on December 3rd will be facing Chicago’s Macho Miguel Hernandez. Hajicek picked up the Mn state middlweight title from Holt and Hernandez is the Illinois state champ. More to come.12/14/05 Boxing Returns to Saint Paul Jan. 19th! Team Freedom will be promoting a boxing show at the Excel Center in Saint Paul, Minnesota on January 19th. On the card, Matt “The Predator” Vanda (34-1, 21 ko’s) returns to the ring for the first time since taking the IBA Americas Light Middleweight Title from Yory Boy Campas in Minneapolis back in June. Opponents are still being looked at but Marlon Thomas (35-6, 21 ko’s) of Detroit was one of the names that was given as a possibility. Rafael Pineda (38-6, 31 ko’s) will be back in action after a year and a half absence from the ring. Pineda last fought in May of 2004, losing a split decision to Zab Judah. According to Luis De Cubas of Team Freedom, Minnesota’s Anthony Bonsante has been offered a fight with Pineda. Heavyweight Michael Grant (41-3, 31 ko’s) will return to Minnesota to face an opponent tba. Grant won an 8 round unanimous decision over Marcus Mcgee last June in Minneapolis. Julio Cesar “BabyFace” Garcia (34-2, 27 ko’s) is set to defend his WBC Jr. Welterweight Youth title against an opponent to be named shortly. De Cubas also said that a bout between local favorites Zach Walters of Duluth, Mn (13-1, 10 ko’s) and Kenny Kost (10-1, 6 ko’s) of White Bear Lake, Mn will be featured on the card if both sides except the fight. Kost and Walters have both expressed interest in facing each other recently. I will keep you posted as I hear more. 12/12/05
Moreno Goes For Title, A. Litzau Returns! Minnesota state welterweight champ Jose Leo Moreno will challenge Mike Aranautis for his NABO title tonight in Florida! The card will be telvised on Telemundo but I am not positive Moreno’s fight will be on tv. Here are the weights from Fightnews.com-“Mighty Mike” Arnaoutis 140 vs. Jose Leo Moreno 138. Quick Results From Fargo The Minnesota state middleweight title switched hands last saturday as North Dakota’s Butch Hajicek stopped former champ Chris Holt in round six of a scheduled eight round bout. Holt was all energy and aggression from the very start of the bout which was effective at times but it left him open to hard counter shots from Hajicek. “Maddog” Butch took his time and found a home for the straight right all fight long. Holt was dropped on several occassions but always managed to get back up and fight on. After a final knockdown in the sixth, the referee stopped the bout. In the nights semi-main event, NDSU’s Andy Kolle found himself in quite a war with Canadian Kareem Chartrand. Chartrand was always coming foreward and was able to land hard shots to the head of Kolle. They came one at a time for the most part. Kolle landed the better combinations and really started to take over in the final two rounds as he busted up Chartrand. Both fighters were hurt of different occassions and the heart of both fighters showed as both stood for the final bell. Kolle won by UD, scores were 58-56, and 59- 55 twice. Jason Aaker was shocked by a slick Marcus Jones by first round ko. Aaker looked good at the start as he took his time and was starting to find Jones more and more. Jones was moving alot and firing quick shots. Jones landed a hard right to the head that staggered Aaker. Two more right put Aaker down. Aaker tried hard to get up but could not make it by the count of 10. Darby Smart crushed Randy Boleski by second round Ko. Sean Hickman looked sharp tko’ing Monte Fasset in the first round. Travis McCullough tkoed Dion Sgro in the first. Tyler Gould tkoed Ryan Gronvold in the first. And Jesse Barbot stopped Yancy Cueller in the fourth round. Featherweight contender Jason Litzau pounded out a lopsided ten round unanimous decision over durable Miguel Munguia Wednesday night at Schuetzen Park in North Bergen, NJ. Litzau landed the harder shots in a workmanlike performance that netted him a 99-90, 99-91, 99-91 victory which brought his record to 16-0 with 14 KO’s. Munguia fell to 15-5-1 with 13 KO’s. Litzau Headlines in New Jersey! Featherweight Jason Litzau (15-0, 14 KOs) of Saint Paul, Mn will headline against Mexico’s Miguel Munguia (15-4-1,13KOs) on November 30th at New Jersey’s Schuetzen Park in North Bergen. The twenty two year old Litzau was signed by promoter Main Events last July following his exciting split decision victory over former Olympian John Nolasko on Espn2. The bout featured many good exchanges which left both fighters dazed on different occasions. Litzau had to raise himself off the canvas in round seven but went on to finish the final rounds strong, securing the victory. Litzau, now ranked #7 by the NABF and #5 USBA, is ready to face his next test which comes by the name of Miguel Munguia. Munguia, of Mexico City, Mexico has been sparring with world champion Rafael Marquez in preparation for the bout and will no doubt be looking to upset the favored prospect. Minnesota Boxing Update Things have been kind of slow in the Minnesota boxing scene as of late. “Rumors” might be a better word for this “update”! First off, here are some late results from last weekends Pro boxing show that took place in Red Lake, Mn on Nov. 19th. In the nights main event, James Wayka dropped former Mohammed Kayongo victim Jerome Elder of Illinois once enroute to a six round unanimous decision victory. Elder ran and clowned for much of the fight, which drew boos from the crowd. NDSU’s Andy Kolle destroyed Canada’s John Mclean in the first round, dropping the usually durable Mclean twice. Powerhouse heavyweight Joey Abell made short work of Canada’s Marcelo Araveno. Araveno tasted the canvas twice before the bout was over. “The Swinging Swede” Matt Anderson had a fun night outboxing Larry Funmaker for four rounds. MMA Minnesota Report! James Wayka, Joey Abell, Matt Anderson and ZachWalters are set to fight as of right now. Walters is set to face Jeff Brownfield from Omaha, Nebraska (9-4, 4 ko’s). More to come. Bonsante Loses On Espn Tony Bonsante lost a 5 round unanimous decision to Jesse Brinkley last Saturday night on Espn. Bonsante seemed to sweep all five rounds boxing behind a solid jab and outworking Brinkley to everybody but the three judges scoring the fight (Raul Caiz 49-46, Julie Lederman and Fritz Warren 48-47). Regardless of the foul decision, the solid showing from Bonsante should open doors for more fights down the road. 10/17/05 Litzau Returns November 30th! On November 30, New Jersey boxing promoter Main Events brings professional boxing back to northern New Jersey for the first of a series of planned boxing events at North Bergen’s Schuetzen Park, it was announced today by Main Events CEO Kathy Duva. Unbeaten featherweight Jason Litzau (15-0, 14 KO’s) will headline six-bout fight card. Also scheduled for action are welterweight Henry Crawford (7-0-1, 2 KO’s), super middleweight Wayne Johnsen (9-0, 5 KO’s), light heavy Bobby Rooney (5-1, 3 KO’s) and Noriko Kariya (3-0), sister of former New Jersey Devils star Steve Kariya. Tickets, priced at $150, $50, and $25, can be purchased by calling 973-893-9100. Fighters Wanted for Wisconsin Show on November 12th Promoter Gary Pliner of Battle Promotions plans to bring professional boxing back to Milwaukee, WI after a three-year absence in the beer city. Pliner will stage a Pro/Am show featuring six amateur bouts along with six professional contests at the United Community Center in Milwaukee on Saturday night November 12th. Boxers scheduled on the event include; MNBoxing.com Catches Up With Yuri Foreman! Yuri Foreman, a product of the former Soviet Union by way of Israel, arrived in the United States in 1999. He settled in Brooklyn New York and immediately found a home at the world famous Gleason’s Gym. In 2001 Yuri won the New York Golden Gloves and turned pro in 2002. Since turning pro, Yuri has gone 18-0 (7ko’s) and most recently headlined Showtime’s Shobox series last May. Q & A: “JUNGLEBOY” ZACH WALTERS More than one week ago, “Jungleboy” Zach Walters successfully defended his Minnesota light-heavyweight title against Boyd “Peek-a-Boo” Davis at the Duluth Entertainment Convention Center (DECC) in Duluth, Minnesota. With the unanimous decision win, the 24-year-old Walters improved his record to 13-1, 10 KO’s. This Friday, June 24th, Saint Paul’s Matt “The Predator” Vanda will have a chance to bring a world title belt to Minnesota. Vanda is challenging Yory Boy Campas for Campas’s IBA Americas title. Vanda has been training the past five weeks in Vero Beach, Florida. The Predator is now back in the cities and will be working out at the Rice Street Gym in final preparation for the biggest fight of his career. Q&A with Darby Smart Minnesota State Featherweight Champ Darby Smart is set to face Saint Paul’s Allen Litzau in the main event Saturday night. The fight should be exposive not only because of the bad blood shared between the two, but also because of the contrasting styles they both have in the ring. Buffalo, Minnesota’s Joe Lynch has not taken the “typical” boxers road. With hardly any amateur boxing experience and a few No Holds Barred tournaments under his belt, he decided to turn professional in 2004. Lynch now has a record of five wins and one loss, two wins by knockout. His first professional fight was ruled a no contest after an accidental headbutt forced a premature ending to the bout. This Saturday Lynch will face another up and coming Minnesota fighter, taking on Rochester Minnesota’s Scott Ball in the co-main event in Coon Rapids. Bonsante losses to Smith in Vegas Anthony Bonsante lost a five round unanimous decision to Contender rival Ishe Smith today at Cesars Palace in Las Vegas. Smith boxed well and connected with the harder shots early particularly the lead left hook. Bonsante did his best work to the body of Smith. By the fourth round Bonsante looked angry and frusterated from trying to box with Smith and started in with the roughem up tactics. Bonsante had a point taken away for rabbit punching in the fourth and a two point deduction in the fifth for almost suplexing Smith! Bonsante continued to try to make the fight a brawl in the final round. Smith boxed a good round but Bonsante was pressuring him and had his opponent on the run in the second half of the round. The final scores were 49-43 an all cards. 5/24/05 Kayongo To Face Moreno June 17th! The much talked about possible showdown between Mohammed Kayongo (12-1-1, 9ko’s) and Jose Leo Moreno (11-0, 9 ko’s) is finally set to happen! The two will battle in the main event at the Rivercentre on June 17th. Also fighting in the co-main and the other television bout will be Marty “The Wolfman” Lindquist. Sanders says he expects the Duluth crowd to be very much against him, but Sanders doesn’t think it will be a problem because he has gotten accustomed to fighting in his opponents’ backyards. In his last fight (a TKO loss), Sanders traveled to Canada and fought in front of 10,000 booing fans. Brunette’s Boxing series at the RiverCentre in Saint Paul will continue on June 17th. Headlining in an eight or ten round bout will be Mohammed Kayongo (12-1-1, 9 ko’s). Also, Zach Walters (10-1, 9 ko’s) has committed to fight in the co-main event. Both bouts will be televised on FSN North. Other names being brought up to fight on the undercard are Tony Grygelko, Ben Dayee, Scott Ball, Brad Laffin, Matt Anderson, Mike Gonzalez and Wilson Rivera. Their will also be three amateur bouts. “We would like to thank all of our loyal fans and also the new one’s we have picked up with these shows at the RiverCentre.” Said Brian Brunette. “We look forward to bringing another great show on June 17th.” Interview With Matt Vanda Junior-middleweight prospect Matt Vanda (33-1, 21KO’s) is coming off a unanimous decision win over fellow East Side fighter Troy Lowry. Now, Vanda is setting his sites on propelling his career to the next level by taking on rugged Mexican Yory Boy Campas (86-7, 71 KO’s). Vanda was preparing to leave St. Paul for training camp with Team Freedom in Miami when he spoke to Fightnews Minnesota. Vanda To Take Big Step Up! Junior-middleweight prospect Matt Vanda (33-1, 21KO’s) is stepping up for his biggest test yet as he is scheduled to face Yory Boy Campas (86-7, 70KO’s) for Campas’ Intercontinental Title. Team Freedom has requested that the details around this fight be held back until they are finalized; however, Campas has in fact signed on to fight Vanda. It is very clear though what Team Freedom has in store for Vanda’s future. Officials Seminar in Duluth May 7th There will be an officials seminar in Duluth prior to the May 7th bouts. The seminar will be at 1:30 p.m. at the Duluth Holiday Inn in room 515. Being covered will be the Association of Boxing Commissions Official Certification Program for Judges and Referees, as well as video from the WBC entitled Basic Guidelines for Judges and Referees. “JUNGLEBOY” Zack Walters: Homecoming “Jungle Boy” Zach Walters (10-1, 9 KO’s) fought his first three professional fights in his hometown of Duluth. But Walters, who is a student at the University of Minnesota-Duluth, has been fighting on the road since then. Much has happened in the light heavyweight’s’ career in the two-plus years since that last fight: In September of 2004, he knocked out Marty Lindquist to become the Minnesota State Light Heavyweight champion. A few months later, Walters sparred with the then World Light Heavyweight champion Antonio Tarver. The result: James “Buddy” McGirt signed on to be his co-trainer alongside Chuck “Sharky” Horton. On Saturday May 7th, Walters will be making his ring-return to Duluth when he takes on Jesse “Iron Jaw” Sanders in the main event of the “Truth in Duluth” fight card at the Duluth Entertainment Convention Center (DECC). Andy Kolle: A Student and a Fighter By day, Andy “Chaos” Kolle attends class at North Dakota State University in Fargo. By night, Kolle is in the gym working to improve his skills in his other career as a middleweight boxer. And according to his trainer, Chuck “Sharky” Horton, Kolle is one of Minnesota boxing’s best kept secrets. “(People) are going to be shocked by Andy. Troy Lowry: Another Opportunity It’s been said that sometimes you lose, but in the end, you really win. After his latest fight, Troy “TNT” Lowry (26-4, 16 KO’s) can probably relate to that saying. On March 11th, Lowry challenged Matt “the Predator” Vanda for the Minnesota junior middleweight title. In a very close and controversial fight, the three judges awarded Vanda a unanimous decision. After the fight, Lowry felt he’d been robbed and the wrong fighter was given the decision. “My performance was great. I thought I won it,” Lowry said. “I don’t care what anybody says. Fargo Boxing Show Results! Professional Boxing returned to Fargo, ND on Saturday, February 26 at Playmakers Pavillion. Several of Minnesota’s and North Dakota’s young prospects were featured. To read the full report CLICK HERE. 2/27/05 Catching Up With Welterweight Mohammed Kayongo Three months ago, Mohammed Kayongo (11-1-1, 8 KO’s) was an undefeated prospect trying to establish himself as a legitimate young contender. Kayongo was scheduled to fight another undefeated prospect, Shamone Alvarez, in his second fight on Showtime’s ShoBox series. Alvarez jumped on Kayongo right away and knocked him out in the first round. It was a disappointing loss for Kayongo, but he says he’ll be a better fighter because of it. Allen Litzau Wins In Style! In one of the most exciting fights of the night, Allen Litzau (6-1 3 KO’s) put on a spectacular display of boxing against Corey Goodwin (3-2-1 1KO). Litzau worked brilliantly behind a stiff jab to set up crisp power shots that had Goodwin confused and unable to mount any sufficient offense. Saint Paul’s Allen Litzau is scheduled to be the swing bout on tonights Espn2 Friday night fights.Watch out for an early Ko in the main events because word is that Al’s bout could be televised if there is room for a six rounder. Walters made the most of his opportunity, impressing McGirt enough for him to want to assist trainer Chuck “Sharky” Horton in guiding Zach’s career. Team Jungle Boy will be in Las Vegas, NV on January 22nd, as Walters and Buddy’s son, James McGirt Jr., are scheduled to fight opponents soon to be determined. Read More Litzau Wins, Corn Losses This Weekend Undefeated Jason Litzau, 130, of St. Paul MN stopped Juan Suazo, 131, of Tuscon, AZ at 2:59 of the sixth and final round of a super featherweight bout. Litzau (13-0, 13 KO) is a cutie in the mold of Paul Spadafora, and has a nice left hook which no doubt played a part in his perfect record. Litzau dominated the first two rounds with superior boxing and faster hands, but Suazo fought his way back into the bout in the next two rounds. Bleeding from several nicks, Suazo (7-3-2, 5 KOs) landed enough right hands to fend Litzau off to narrowly win rounds three and four. Litzau was back in round five, boxing, moving, and landing bolo punches that befuddled Suazo. Round six was all Litzau, as he hammered Suazo with left hooks, right hands, and right-left combinations. A double left hook near the end of the round sent Suazo back into the ropes, where referee Randy Neumann waved things off. — Rick Scharmberg Fighting at middleweight, highly touted Anthony Thompson scored an impressive fourth round knockout over J.J. Corn. Kayongo losses on Showtime Welterweight Shamone “The Truth” Alvarez kept his record at a perfect 9-0 with 7 KOs, while putting the first blemish on Mohammed Kayongo’s (11-1, 7). Southpaw Alvarez caught Kayongo at the opening bell with a straight left that staggered Kayongo immediately. Kayongo recovered, only to get caught with short rights on the inside later in the round that set up another text book left. Referee Ron Cunnigham counted Kayongo out at 2:30 of the first round. This Saturday, October 15th, Anthony Bonsante will face Jesse Brinkley in a rematch on “The Contender” show at the Staples Center in Los Angeles. The two first met in May of 2004 as part of the first season of The Contender. Bonsante fought a very aggressive fight and was ahead on all judges score cards through four rounds. Bonsante’s aggression would cost him in the final round however as he left himself open for a perfectly timed punch that sent him to the canvas. Incredibly, he rose to his feet but was in no condition to be allowed to continue. Bonsante says that Saturday will not only be a chance to prove he still can box with the top guys out there, but also a chance to right where he went wrong in the first fight with Brinkley. 
“JungleBoy” Zach Walters retained his Minnesota State lightheavyweight title in Duluth last Saturday with an entertaining unanimous decision victory over Anoka, Minnesota’s Boyd Davis. Walters kept the pressure on “Peek-A-Boo” Davis, outworking the slick 37 year old fighter for the better part of eight rounds. Walters saved his best for the final round as he rocked his opponent on several occasions. Davis was barely able to make it to the final bell but to his credit showed a very good chin in the final minutes. Walters won by scored of 79-73 on all scorecards. 
On October 12, 2005 at Gabbys Resturant in NE Minneapolis, Former heavyweight fighter Scott Ledoux will participate in his last public sparring session. Ledoux will be putting on an exhibition match with 2004 National Golden Gloves champion Raphael Butler of Rochester, Mn in what Ledoux calls his farewell fight. 
Mark Nelson To Officiate Another Title Bout!
Minnesota junior middleweight prospect Matt “The Predator” Vanda (34-1, 21KO’s) is coming off of the biggest win of his professional career, a 12 round split decision over Ramon Luis “Yory Boy” Campas (86-8, 70KO’s). The win put a stake in the ground for Vanda as he is now the IBA Americas junior middleweight champion. Vanda proved the boxing world wrong as most writers predicted a Campas victory by KO. Vanda now is preparing to leave for camp in a few weeks as he gets ready to make his first IBA Americas title defense while continuing to prepare himself for bigger fights down the road.
Unbeaten super featherweight Jason Litzau has never been one to let people’s negative opinions hold him back. Litzau, who has built a record of 14-0, with 14 knockouts, still deals with people underestimating him. “Without a doubt, there’s a stigma,” says Litzau’s trainer/manager Bob Van Syckle. “Not only because he is a white kid, but he’s a kid from Minnesota. From the East coast to the West coast, Minnesota guys have a bad reputation.” Tonight at the Pechanga Resort in Temecula, California, Litzau will be taking on possibly his toughest challenge when he takes on John Nolasco (15-3, 6 KOs) in the main event on ESPN2. 
White Bear Lake’s “Ko” Kenny Kost (9-1, 6 ko’s) will have yet another chance to showcase his boxing talent on National television tonight on Telefutura. Kost went six rounds with Olympic gold medalist Andre Ward on Fox Sports Net back in February. Kost will be facing “Macho” Miguel Hernandez (16-2, 9 ko’s), a tough mexican fighter in a ten round Middleweight bout as part of the co-main event being promoted by Eight Count Productions at the Aragon Ballroom in Chicago, Illinois. In 2003, only two weeks after knocking out Marris Virgil in the 3rd round in Hinkley, Minnesota, Tony “The Bullet” Bonsante took an IBA middleweight title fight on short notice versus Tony “The Bull” Ayala, Jr. The fight was supposed to be a tune-up for Ayala on his way to bigger and better things. Bonsante impressed on national television by battering Ayala and knocking him out in the 11th round.
Jr middleweight Matt “The Predator” Vanda (34-1, 21 KOs) scored the biggest victory of his career, winning a twelve round split decision over former world champion Yory Boy Campas (86-8, 70 KOs) Friday night at the Target Center, in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The fight featured many good exchanges and both fighters had their moments. In the end, Vanda claimed a 116-112, 115-113 win on two cards. Campas was ahead 117-112 on the third card. Undefeated Jose Leo Moreno overcame a bad cut over his left eye to win a dramatic fourth round TKO over Mohammed Kayongo in the main event at the RiverCentre Ballroom in St. Paul, Minnesota. With the win, Moreno became the new Minnesota Welterweight champion. Moreno of St. Paul is now 12-0, 10 KO’s. Kayongo falls to 12-2-1, 9 KO’s. For the full report and photos 
It didn’t come easy, but 23-year-old Allen Litzau became the new Minnesota Featherweight champion in the main event of the “It Finally Happens” fight card at CR’s Sports Bar in Coon Rapids, Minnesota. Litzau showed a warrior’s heart in overcoming a fifth round knockdown to take a close, split-decision win over the now former champion Darby Smart. 
This June is perhaps the biggest boxing month Minnesota has ever seen, with shows on the 4th, 17th and 24th. Being that so many boxers in the state will be fighting this month, We have decided to visit some of the local gyms to see how the guys have been doing in preparation. Last Saturday Mohammed Kayongo and Joe Lynch went five hard rounds with each other. Joe Lynch is fighting Rochester’s Scott Ball in the co-main event this Saturday at CR Billiards in Coon Rapids. Kayongo will be facing Jose Leo Moreno on the June 17th card at the RiverCentre in the main event of the FSN North televised card. Darby Smart was also at ACR Saturday working out. Chris Holt (12-4, 8 ko’s) of Detroit Lakes, MN kept his Minnesota state middleweight title by edging Troy Lowry (26-5, 16 ko’s) of Saint Paul, MN Saturday night at the RiverCentre in Saint Paul, Minnesota. The fight was stopped in the fifth round after an accidental clash of heads produced a huge gash over Lowry’s left eye. Scores at the time were 49-47, 49-46 for Holt and 48-47 for Lowry. But try as they do, many fighters can’t resist the temptation of the ring. For some, the decision is based on money. For others, to recapture past glory. For Troy “TNT” Lowry, it was to fill a void that wouldn’t go away after he quit boxing . . .

Perez dropped Wiley in round five and the fight was stopped by referee Mark Nelson shortly after. In his first fight under Buddy McGirt, light heavyweight Zach “Jungleboy” Walters (10-1, 9 KOs) scored a impressive TKO over Mike Wood (12-3-1, 7 KOs). The end came at 2:00 of fifth round. 
The Acr Boxing Club will be part of two upcoming professional boxing cards. Acr will host the card on February 26th at Playmakers in Fargo, North Dakota. The Minnesota State Middleweight Champ Chris Holt and Featherweight Champ Darby Smart will headline. Fergus Falls Andy Kolle will box along with Butch Hajicek and Jason Aaker. The Acr Boxing club hosted a “A Fight Night in Fridley” last night at the Minnesota Sports cafe in Fridley, Mn. Duluth’s Darby Smart picked up the vacant Minnesota State featherweight title by winning a unanimous decision over Shakopee’s C.B. Bunkholt. Smart landed the harder, cleaner punches but Bunkholt showed his toughness by staying in the mix through the six rounds. Smarts best weapon in the fight was the straight left but it was a right hand to the head that put Bunkholt down nearing the end of the first round. It would be the only knockdown of the fight. Bunkholt had some good moments himself in the fight but he only really seemed to bring his best after being rocked. To Bunkholt’s credit, he took some hard shots and kept coming. The last few rounds were all action. The final scores were 60-53, 60-53, and 59-53 for Smart. For full report 
Three weeks ago, Zach “Jungle Boy” Walters traveled to Vero Beach, Florida for the training camp of world champion Antonio Tarver, hoping to gain valuable experience. Last weekend, he returned home to Minnesota having gained a new trainer in legendary James “Buddy” McGirt. 
The December 18th card being held in Fridley is now set for the most part. The main event will feature Darby Smart of Duluth, Mn taking on C.B. Bunkholt of Shakopee, Mn for the vacant Minnesota state featherweight title. Other matchups on the show will include ACR’s Innocent Otukwu -vs- John Sargent, Raphael Butler of Rochester -vs former Mike Tyson sparring partner Richie Goosehead, Matt Anderson -vs- Van Goodman,Tony Grygelko -vs- Brandon Busy, Andy Kolle -vs- John Mclean. Joe Lynch, who is coming off a big television win on Telefutura will be fighting an opponent tba. Also fighting but without an opponent at this time will be Scott Ball, Brad Laffin and Sean Hickman.
