USA BOXING NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS
Monday, December 6, 2021, 6 PM Start
Zaro Snyder of Saint Paul, MN vs. Eno Archibong of Blaine, MN
Elite Male, 125 lbs.
Ring 4, Bout 22
Two skilled Minnesota boxers met in the final MN featured bout on Monday night while two of our states most vocal coaches John Johnson (Archibong) and Joe Amouta (Snyder) could be heard on the live stream emphatically shouting out instructions! Snyder got his patented jab working early and picked up the pace which included hard right hands as the round went on. Archibong also used his jab successfully but elected more to work his way into scoring range out of the southpaw stance with lead lefts and flurries in the first. Archibong landed a straight left at the start of the second in midst of an exchange that sent Snyder to the canvas. The referee did not rule it a knockdown because the fighters legs were tangled. The fast pace continued. Archibong came forward as the aggressor and Snyder countered and moved. Round two was close and featured nice back and forth action. The punches continued to fly in round three. Snyder landed a straight right in the second half of the round that put Archibong down but like earlier in the fight, the referee did not call it a knockdown due to what we believe could have been tangled legs.
Result: Zaro Snyder defeats Eno Archibong by decision
Isayah Smith, Duluth, MN vs. Reginald Battle, Texas
Elite Male, 132 lbs.
Ring 3, Bout 13
1. Coach Aaron Resberg in the corner of Smith. Both boxers trading long range jabs to start. Smith landed a nice right on the ropes which was followed by a flurry of punches from both. Very close and competitive first round.
2. Lots of movement and angles from both quick and flashy boxers to kick off round 2. Smith continuing to jab and looking to land hard rights to follow. Another close round.
3. Smith looking to land harder shots in this round and having success. Battle answers back with heads shots of his own at about a minute into the round. Smith looked to be the more aggressive boxer in round three and landed solid shots.
Result: Isayah Smith defeats Reginald Battle by 3 round decision
Eduardo Valenzuela of Apple Vally, MN vs. Emiliano Gandara of Dallas, Texas
Division: YM 147 lbs.
Ring 1, Bout 4
1.
2. Valenzuela stood right in the pocket and traded with his taller opponent. Gandara landed more but the Minnesotan was in the fight despite being given a standing 8 count for a single decent shot landed by Gandara.
3. Round two was a mirror of the first with good fierce action and both boxers trading. The referee gave Valenzuela another standing 8 for a hard single head shot that Valenzuela took with no problem.
Results: Gandara defeats Valenzuela by decision.
