RESULTS FROM THE 2023 NATIONAL JUNIOR GOLDEN GLOVES IN FLORIDA
The 2023 National Junior Golden Gloves tournament begins this afternoon (8/6/23) in Orlando, Florida with 7 Minnesota boxers competing. 6 boxers representing The Circle of Discipline including Santiago Frazier, Luis Ortiz Navarro, Cortez Hurtado, Sam Hernandez, Steve Gomez Moctezuma, Miguel Gomez Monctezuma and boxing out of Central MN Boxing, Adam Umland will all box throughout the weekend with action taking place from Sunday, August 6, 2023 through Wednesday, August 9, 2023.
All of the weeks action can be viewed live streamed at http://juniorgoldengloves.org/live. The cost is $10 a day or $30 for 4 days of competition.

SUNDAY, AUGUST 6, 2023 12-7 PM CST
RESULT: 11 year-old Luis Ortiz Navarro of the Circle of Discipline in MNPLS, MN won by decision over Edward Rodriguez of Florida in an 85 pound bantamweight male novice bout this afternoon. Luis’ performance kicked off the National Junior Golden Gloves tournament positively for team Minnesota.
Coach Nate Haile says that Luis won unanimously and out-boxed his opponent from the opening bell.

Santiago Frazier of MN moved on to the next round of competition today with a walk-over win over Raschid Bray 3rd of NJ in an 80 pound Pee Wee 9-10 year old male bout. Frazier will face Byron Gomez of Florida on Tuesday, August 8 (tomorrow).

Sam Hernandez of MN lost by RSC 1 at 1:58 to Joshua Latorre of FL in a 106 pound Intermediate Male Novice bout.
Luis Ortiz Navarro of MN lost a 5-0 decision to Jesse Valenzuela of NV in a second round, 85 pound bantamweight male novice bout.
Santiago Frazier of MN lost by 5-0 decision to Byron Gomez of FL in a second round, 80 pound Pee Wee 9-10 year old male bout.
