ABELL ICES NOFIRE IN ROUND THREE
Coon Rapids heavyweight Joey “Minnesota Ice” Abell (32-9, 30 KOs) stopped Oklahoma’s Wes Nofire (19-1, 15 KO’s) by TKO at 2:12 of the third round. Abell got his powerful straight left hand going early in the first and was tagging Nofire repeatedly by round number two.
Later in the second round, Abell got through with 2 hard lefts and a right uppercut that rocked Nofire. A right-left combination and continuous short lefts on the inside dropped Nofire at the end of the round. Nofire was able to get to his feet and survive the round as Abell went back to his corner with a cut caused by an earlier clash of heads.
Three more straight lefts to the head dazed Nofire near the start of the third. Moments later, a right to the head by Abell put Nofire to the canvas for the second time of the fight. Abell was loading up with lefts and looking for the finish as the action resumed. Two more lefts to the face by Abell sent Nofire crashing to the canvas and referee Gary Miezwa waived the action off, giving Abell the 32nd victory of his 10 year pro career. The fight was televised live nationally on Fox Sports 1.
