ABELL, OCHIENG HEADLINE THIS SATURDAY IN BLAINE
Heavyweights Joey Abell (32-9) of Coon Rapids, Minnesota and Raymond Ochieng (26-20) of Nairobi, Kenya (residing in Minneapolis) will meet in a bout scheduled for 10 rounds this Saturday night at the Blaine Sports Center (Sports Expo Building) in Blaine, Minnesota. The two heavyweights revealed that they have sparred once in the past and each is predicting a knockout victory on Saturday night. Abell trains at the ACR Gym in Coon Rapids while Ochieng has been busy at the Uppercut Gym in Minneapolis.
In his last bout, Abell scored an impressive TKO victory on May 5th, 2016 at the Black Bear Casino in Carlton, MN. “Minnesota Ice” battered then undefeated prospect Wes Nofire.
The main undercard contest pits 25 year old Cuban born Ramon Luis Nicolas (9-2) of Miami, Florida against experienced veteran of over 50 fights, Darnell Boone (23-23-4, 12 KO’s) of Atlanta, Georgia. The light-heavyweight bout is scheduled for 8 rounds.
“The Wolfman” Marty Lindquist (14-9) of Blaine, Minnesota will box Martez Williamson (2-16) of Akron, Ohio in a 4 round cruiserweight bout.
Livan Navarro (5-0) of and Gilbert Venegas (15-26) of East Moline, Illinois meet again in a 6 round super lightweight bout. Navarro defeated Venegas last January in Minnapolis.
20 year old super welterweight Uriel Lara (1-0) of Coon Rapids, Minnesota takes on Desmond Johnson (0-2) of Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada in a four round jr. middleweight bout.
Irosvani Duvergel (1-0) of Miami, Florida faces Walt Lcoumoyer in a four round light heavyweight bout. Seconds Out Promotions will host the fights beginning at 7:30pm. Weigh-in’s are Friday, February 24th at Lyke’s Gym in Coon Rapids.
