BIZARRE END TO HUBBERT-MATTICE
Rondale Hubbert (13-16-2, 8 ko’s) was stopped in the first round last night in Georgia against Thomas Mattice (16-2-1, 11 ko’s) . Hubbert took two hard body shots and went down to a knee early on. Later, Hubbert says Mattice pushed his head down but that his gloves did not touch the canvas. Hubbert said the body shot hurt but that he was ready to fight. The referee asked Hubbert if he wanted to continue and his response was “Yes but stop trying to F-ck me over”. Hubbert says the ref stopped the fight because he did not like the language he had used. Out of frustration, Hubbert hinted at retiring following the fight but later told MinnesotaBoxing.com that he will continue to train at Jungle Boy Boxing in Duluth and see what happens.
