BOXING: Murata Regains Title, Stops Brant In Second Round
Robert “Bravo” Brant (25-2, 17 KO’s) was stopped in round two moments ago in Japan by Ryota Murata (15-2, 12 KO’s). A blistering pace was set in the opening round as Brant ran out of his corner throwing non-stop punches reminiscent of the first meeting between the two last year. Murata could not match the work rate of Brant but his success was coming in the form of power shots. It was a good start for Brant who appeared to put the round in the bank but Murata was walking forward and getting through with body shots and some staggering punches as the action came to an end.
Murata came out with mean intentions and a look of determination to start round two. Brant went right back to work but was caught early with a body-heady combination. Murata’s right hand staggered Brant and a flurry of thudding punches sent him to the canvas. Brant made it to his feet but was unable to tie Murata up to recover. The action was moving fast and Brant tried to punch his way out of trouble. Murata capitalized by landing more clean shots. Murata continued to pour on the right hands to the head and the fight was stopped at 2:34 of round two leaving Brant hurt along the ropes and Murata reunited with his WBA Middleweight title.
