BOXING: TRUAX’S TITLE FIGHT IN LONDON NEARS
“Golden” Caleb Truax (28-3-2, 18 KO’s) of Osseo, Minnesota traveled to London, England last Monday morning to put the final touches on training camp. Truax will face James DeGale (29-1-1, 14 KO’s) this Saturday for the IBF World Super Middle. Tom Halstad, Ron Lyke, Tony Grygelko, and Jim Maurine have joined Truax overseas where the team has been staying sharp at London, England’s Peacock Boxing Club.
The fight hype has picked up for the showdown which can be viewed live on Showtime’s Youtube page as well as Showtime’s Facebook page this Saturday afternoon. Truax and DeGale spoke earlier today at a press conference and also had a face to face stare down for the first time (video’s are below). Truax says that training camp was successful for the southpaw world champion DeGale after flying in lefty Aaron Coley (15-1-1, 7 KO’s) of California. Coley was Truax’s main sparring partner to prepare for DeGale.
“DeGale is a great fighter” said Truax. “He is slick, has power, and great boxing ability. My job is to take away those strengths and show them that they made a mistake by picking me for his comeback fight. My team has come up with a good plan to get the win. I know what it’s like to be in a huge arena with the fans with me, and also against me so I will be ready for anything on Saturday night.”
