BOXING: CRUSE STEWART BATTLES LANGSTON IN MILWAUKEE TONIGHT
30 year-old middleweight Cruse Stewart (3-0, 3 KO’s) who fights out of Minneapolis will battle undefeated William Langston (1-0, 1 KO) tonight at The Tripoli Shrine Center in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
Stewart resided in Cedar Rapids, Iowa before relocating to Minnesota and is now represented locally by Sterling Entertainment Group and One-Two Boxing.
After compiling an amateur record of 325-80, Stewart now seeks his fourth professional win tonight on the Heavy Hitters Promotions show. The night’s main event pits cruiserweights DeShon Webster of Kansas and Dennis Morris of Wisconsin against each other in an interesting bout. Webster and Duluth’s Al Sands fought to a draw last month at The Grand Casino in Hinckley. That all action fight will be up for fight of the year honors later this year.
Cruse Stewart also fought on last months Hinckley show and took care of business early, stopping
Darrius Flowers in the first round.
“I felt really good coming off some time out of ring but I was consistently in the gym bettering my craft for a grade A performance that the fans would love” said Stewart when asked about that fight.”
Stewart is set to return less than a month out from his last fight. His fight against Langston will be at a weight class up in the light heavyweight division although Stewart does not plan to make that a regular thing.
“We stepped up boxing training at Los Campeones in Minneapolis where I also do strength and conditioning. We worked on boxing at Sir Boxing in Saint Paul once again so really there was nothing different since last training camp. Just being there is the key.”
“It’s funny, I walk around at light heavyweight” said Stewart when asked why he was moving up a weight class for this fight. “I wanted to get back to the action coming off the momentum I just had which is why I took the fight. I’m not moving up in weight for good. After this fight I’m moving back to middle weight.”
“I don’t know much about Langston. He’s a tough fella from what I saw. My plan is to put everyone on the same playing field as me or even better than me. That keeps me on my square! I love the chance to go to his backyard. I know champions are made on the road, fighters are build at home. It will be a great fight, I’ve trained so hard for the win and also represent Iowa and Minnesota respectfully to the fullest.”
