UPDATE: Ryan Watson won by unanimous decision over Juan Torres earlier tonight. In other action, Yancey Cuellar picked up his second win in a row by defeating Jacob Fox. More details to come.

Duluth’s Ryan Watson (2-1-1) is back in the ring tonight against heavyweight Juan Torres (3-0-1) of Cypress, Texas at the 4 Bears Casino in New Town, North Dakota. Watson has been out of action for over two years and is now the lone Minnesotan on the show after Thief River Falls, Mn Super Featherweight Nate Rubins’ opponent pulled out due to injury. Watson weighed in last night at 274.4 LBS. while Torres weighed 266 LBS.

Rubin was scheduled to rematch Jose Zamora Soto (10-2) of Hawthorne, California with the World Combat Federation International featherweight title on the line. Rubin defeated Soto in September of 2018 and was prepared to earn the same result tonight. Earlier in the week, Rubin announced that the fight was off when Soto was forced off the show due to injury.

“It is with great disappointment that I have been informed that my opponent for this weekend’s WFC Title Fight has pulled out due to injury” said Rubin on Tuesday. “I apologize to all my friends and family who were planning to make it but I will not be fighting. With such a short notice they weren’t able to fill a replacement because the commission needed to have all fights approved one week prior to fight night which left us with no time. It’s extremely unfortunate to take a loss in all your investments this close up to fight night. I appreciate everybody’s support. We will be back soon and guaranteed hungrier!”

The main event features Ronald Cruz (15-1) of North Hollywood, California versus Javier Flores (14-1) of Aguadilla, Puerto Rico. The pair battle for the WBC Latino Super Welterweight title.

A fight between familiar faces to Minnesota boxing fans will take place on the undercard when North Dakota boxers Jacob Fox and Yancy Cuellar meet in a super middleweight bout. Cuellar defeated Chris “The Incredible” Holt in an all-action fight last month. Fox has added weight in recent years after battling a lot of Minnesota’s lighter weight fighters.

The show is being promoted by Quicksilver Hill Sports and Denean. The card will be televised both Nationally and Internationally by the Ringside Boxing Series and shown on tape delay at a later date. Ben Tighe of Hawley, MN, and owner of The Goldroom Boxing Gym will be part of the commentating team during the broadcast. Amateur boxing will kick off the action at 5:30 PM with the pro fights set to begin at 7:30 PM.
