BOXING: HOBBS BACK AT THE MYTH LIVE THIS SATURDAY
27 year-old Giezwa Pierre Hobbs JR. (5-0) of
Minneapolis, MN is back at the Myth Live this Saturday night in Maplewood, MN. Hobbs was victorious against DeWayne Wisdom last August in his Myth debut, scoring a six round unanimous decision win. Hobbs dropped Wisdom in the bout but his crafty opponent was able to hold on until the final bell. With the main event state title fight between Phil Williams and Mengistu Zarzar, plus Joey Abell’s return promising to pack the house, Hobbs plans to bring his own supporting cast of fans and put on a show as well. Hobbs is set to face Kendrick Latchman of Kansas. The Minnesota super featherweight caught up with Minnesota Fight News to discuss his last bout, Saturday night’s opponent, and also shared his prediction for the main event.
MN FIGHT NEWS: Your fight and opponent were revealed on the latest bout sheet released. Is this a short notice fight or have you known about it for a while? What kind of camp did you have for this fight?
HOBBS: This is not a short notice fight. I have known about this fight for a while. I always stay in shape so I really do not have to get ready. Just work on Technical tricks to my craft.
MN FIGHT NEWS: You are back at the myth after defeating an awkward and tricky opponent last time. How excited are you to be back?
HOBBS: I am looking forward to fighting again at the Myth and it is going to be a show to remember. Last time I was out of the ring for some time but still training. This time im right back at it. This is going to be such a great fight and hopefully my opponent is not holding so much. If he tries, I know exactly what to do.
MN FIGHT NEWS: Phil “The Drill” Williams defends his title against “The Dynamic Warrior” Mengistu Zarzar in the main event. What are your thoughts on that fight?
HOBBS: I am sure Drill will most likely get the knockout this time around. I watched the last fight online. I know enough about this fight and the fighters to know what will most likely happen. This is a good fight for anticipation and proving who’s the best in the state at that weight. Phil will win this.
MN FIGHT NEWS: What can tell us about your opponent?
HOBBS: My opponent is way to slow for me, has a somewhat okay jab and likes to move a lot. I’m just a different type of fighter and fight way faster than most fighters with inaccuracy. My movement is always superior and I will dismantle everything he does Saturday night and rip his confidence out his chest. Then I’ll end the night early this time around.
MN FIGHT NEWS: Anything you want to add or shout outs you want to do in closing?
HOBBS: Anything you’d like to add? Sponsors or shout outs etc? Shouts out to Tony G Presents Promotions for having me on the card and working with me to display my great talent. Shouts out to the number one sports drink in the World Ax water for endorsing me. ax water has done a great job with me and providing me with a pure sports drink to keep me hydrated. Shouts out to Stealth Fitness for providing me with the best core machine in the world. The stealth machine has my core very strong and ripped. They are sponsoring me and they are doing a great job. Thank you to my good friend Howard Panes who owns Stealth Fitness for giving an athlete like me a chance in representing their company.
Shouts out to 2346 Films for sponsoring and working with me on video content to put out into the world. They are top pf line film makers in the industry and they do a great job at making me look good on camera. They are based in California and I appreciate them a lot.
Shouts out to Stupid Bunny who supplies my lady with eye lashes when she wants to look even better than she already does. Stupid bunny is top of the line and with a man such as myself, its important that my companion looks top of the line as well. I thank Stupid Bunny for sponsoring me but giving my girlfriend products, we did a creative deal.
Thank you to Juke Performance for providing my strength training resistant suit that allows me to work my muscles and move even faster than I did. Any fighter want to take it to the next level that’s the way to go.
Shouts out to Performance Mental Training. They keep me on point with focus, keeping my mind flowing during fight time. Allowing me to be able to deal with different scenarios during fight time and solving problems on how to break a fighter down faster.
Chiroport LLC for doing all of adjustments on my body and keeping my body balanced. They have been working with me for almost two years now.
Black Excellence clothing line is a brand that I rock on a daily basis, shouts out to them on sponsoring me and allowing me to be apart of the movement they have going on. A brand that is for the youth and for the community.
I am grateful in the sponsorship I have and the endorsements I have so early in my career. Being a smart business savvy man who knows what his worth is and can sit at the table to discuss his own deals is important. Legacy last forever, my body does not. Make the most out of this game, make smart moves and live in abundance. Be happy and enjoy. I am a vegetarian and I do not eat eggs or drink dairy, no meat at all so my body is always pure, never did any drugs and always lived a pretty clean lifestyle to maximize my ability. Health is important and leaving this game as alive with every thing still there, lots of money, winning world championships and leaving a legacy behind for generations to know about is important and what I will do.
Thank you for this interview and I support MN Fight News !
