BOXING: Joe James Stays Unbeaten In Iowa With Majority Decision Win
Joe James (5-0, 2 KO’s) defeated Emeka Ifekandu (0-1) by way of majority decision earlier tonight at the WinnVegas Casino & Resort in Sloan, Iowa.
James controlled the early rounds by being more effective with his shots and landing the more telling blows. Ifekandu was busy and flurried to keep himself in the fight. James boxed well from the outside as he out-pointed Ifekandu throughout. An uppercut delivered by Ifekandu in round four scored well for Ifekandu but the Minnesotan composed himself and continued to box to the last bell. Final scores read 39-37, 39-37, 38-38.
James told MN Fight News that he doesn’t believe the fight was as close as the scores would suggest but he’s happy with how the fight played out.
“I was outboxing him from the outside and had him hurt in the second and third rounds,” said James. He landed his only decent shot on me in the fourth but overall it was a great experience and I just stuck to the game plan.”
The win secures James’ spot on the big August 9th show at The Grand Casino in Hinckley, MN.
