BOXING: JOEY ABELL FACES TOMASZ ADAMEK THIS SATURDAY

Knockout artist Joey “Minnesota Ice” Abell (34-9, 32 KO’s) will bring his dynamite left hand to Poland to test iron-jawed veteran Tomasz Adamek (52-5,30 KO) this Saturday night in Czestochowa, Poland. The fight will be streamed live all over the world via ipla.tv. Abell traveled to Poland last year and knocked out prospect Krysztof Zimnoch. Now, the Polish boxing gods are throwing their big gun at Abell, looking for revenge against Minnesota’s top-rated heavyweight. Most recently, Abell picked up career-best wins against prospects Wes Nofire and Krysztof Zimnoch. Minnesota Ice says he is looking to defeat his most experienced opponent when he meets Adamek.

“I’m looking forward to the opportunity” said Abell. It’s going to be a great fight with the things I’ll bring and the experience he has. I’ve always been a fan of Adamek and now I’ll be able to fight him. It will be an honor”

Both fighters will bring a vast amount of experience to the ring this Saturday. Abell, 36, has nearly 13 years of pro boxing experience. His opponent Adamek, 41, will be going on 20 years. Minnesota Fight News visited Abell last month at Lyke’s Gym in Coon Rapids and he looked ready for battle at that time. Abell’s training looked like something out of a Rocky movie as he pounded tractor tires with a sledgehammer, pushed weight sleds, and did sit up leg raises with his son hanging on tight as extra weight. Team Abell also flew to Minnesota cruiserweight prospect Brandon Glanton (5-0) of Riverside, California for sparring work.
