BOXING: LIVE RESULTS FROM FARGO, ND

Pro boxing results from the Delta Hotel by Marriott in Fargo, ND presented by Barbot Boxing and MPX Promotions.

Lightweight Mariah Prussia (2-0, 2 KO’s) of Fargo, ND stopped Katie Newholy (0-1) of Fort Yates, ND in the main event of the evening. The official time of the stoppage was 1:18 of round three.

Jake Henriksen (3-3, 2 KO’s) of Glyndon, MN knocked out Cheyenne Ziegler (3-14, 2 KO’s) of Idaho at 2:45 of round number three in a jr. middleweight bout.

Yancey Cuellar (2-12, 1 KO) of Moorhead, MN upset Chris Holt (16-10-1, 9 KO”s) of Detroit Lakes, MN in a featured fight. The action was fast paced with heavy leather being thrown by both men in round one. Holt was busier in round two but Cuellar was waiting for his shots and causing more damage when he landed. The crowd was loud, vocal, and split down the middle in who to cheer for. Cuellar began to find a home for his right hand by the middle of round two. Holt was breathing heavily but didn’t stop letting his hands go and kept coming forward. Round three was more of the same, good action and hard punches thrown. During an exchange, Cuellar connected with a left hook to the chin that sent Holt to the canvas. Holt made it to his feet and wanted to continue but the ring physician felt otherwise. The fight was stopped at 1:39 of the third round.

Rondale “Give Em Hell” Hubbert (13-7-1, 8 KO’s) of Minneapolis, MN stopped John Edwards (0-3) of Georgia at :17 into round number three. Hubbert was in no rush and out-pointed his game opponent who tipped the scales 10 pounds in his favor over the Minnesota state super light weight champion at weigh-ins. Hubbert landed three or four consecutive head snapping punches to begin round three and the referee jumped in to stop the fight.

Jose Homar Rios (2-5, 1 KO) of Moorhead, MN won a unanimous decision over Antwan Robertson (10-18-1, 6 KO’s) over four rounds of action in a featherweight bout. Rios swept all four rounds on two judges cards 40-36 and won 39-37 in the eyes of the third judge.

Canadian heavyweight Mladen Miljas (11-0, 11 KO’s) remained undefeated following a second round TKO win over Missouri’s Matt Greer (16-23, 13 KO’s). The time of stoppage was 1:13 of round 2. Miljas last fought at the Grand Casino in Hinckley, MN in January where he stopped Wayman Carter.

In a battle of southpaws, Marlin “So Icey” Sims (5-0, 3 KO’s) of Minneapolis, MN defeated North Dakota’s Tomi Archambault by TKO in round two. Archambault mixed it up with Sims in the opening moments of the fight but was rattled and dropped three times throughout the opening round. Sims put Archambault down again in the beginning of round two before the North Dakotan’s corner threw in the towel. The time of stoppage was :13 into round two. Sims’ manager Eric Hinderaker of One-Two Boxing says that Sims will be looking to move up to six round fights and will try drop down to 126 pounds in the near future.

Former 160 pound upper Midwest golden glove champion Leo Medel (1-0) of Apple Valley, MN won his pro debut by third round TKO over Starr Roberts (0-12). The official time of stoppage was 1:42 of round one. The Medel-Roberts fight was the opener of the night.
