BOXING: MN BOXERS FEATURED AT CLASH OF LEGENDS TONIGHT

Three boxers with Minnesota ties will be boxing at “Clash of Legends” later tonight at the Mississippi Valley Fairgrounds in Davenport, Iowa. Valhalla Combat boxing trainer Marty “The Wolfman” Lindquist of Blaine will face the UFC/Pride veteran Jeremy Horn in a heavyweight bout. Minnesota’s own heavyweight/cruiserweight Terrence Walker of St. Paul is set to make his long-awaited pro debut against Ryan Antle III. Finally, highly regarded  Donovan Dennis will box Anthony Williams in a cruiserweight bout. Dennis is promoted by local company Maximus Boxing. The main event features Boxing legend Michael Nunn taking on Mixed Martial Arts Icon Pat Miletich in a boxing bout. In all there will be 9 boxing matches and 3 kickboxing fights. The show begins at 6 PM and can be watched live at www.Doneright.tv for $35.95.

After multiple local fights falling through for various reasons, Terrence Walker will finally make his pro debut at heavyweight. Walker, who weighed in last night at 233, will be pitted against another boxing debut in MMA veteran Ryan “Dirty” Antle (16w -13L).  Antle is very experienced in the octagon and is now crossing over to the boxing ring.

“It’s been a long time coming trying to get to this pro debut” Walker told Minnesotaboxing.com/MN Fight News. “I’ve been boxing since 2007 and have had back and forth problems with local gyms and promoters which has held me back some. Then I decided to do it on my own without realizing how hard it would be. I never gave up no matter how hard things got. As of now, I’m petty calm and relaxed, just waiting on the bell to ring. As soon as it happens it will become more real for me. It’s been so hard with so many let downs and I don’t want to get my hopes up again! I’m getting excited the closer we get (to fight time) and I hope it goes all the way through this time.”

“I know there will be over 2,000 people there live. The only thing I can say about my opponent is that I hope he’s not a sore loser because I’m a big problem and I am not playing any games in this weight class. I literally see him as a stepping stool in my eyes. Just a twig or piece of lint to be removed out of my way. It’s all business!”

Walker had an outstanding 13 year amateur career that included a record of (65W – 8L), and being 2X USA State Champion, 3X Golden Glove Regional Champion, and 3X Upper Midwest Golden Gloves Champion. He is a crafty boxer which should suit him very well in the professional ranks.

Needing no introduction to Minnesota fight fans is Marty “The Wolfman” Lindquist (14W – 10L, 11 KO’s). Lindquist turned pro in 1994 and has had some memorable bouts along the way. Lindquist battled Jungle Boy Zach Walters for the Minnesota State Light Heavyweight title in 2004. His biggest win and defining moment came in 2006 when he traveled to Philadelphia and knocked out local prospect Max Alexander with his trademark overhand right :10 into the opening round. Lindquist now trains boxers at Valhalla Combat Sports in Fridley, MN.
Lindquist hit the heavyweight minimum weight on the dot at 201 pounds while his former UFC title challenger opponent Jeremy Horn was 38 pounds heavier at 239 pounds.

This is Boxing against a UFC & Pride fighter named Jeremy Horn” said Lindquist. “I’ve been training really hard at Valhalla Combat and everything went great! I’m super excited to be on this show. When they asked if I would fight Jeremy Horn, who has 200 MMA fights, on the undercard of Pat Miletich vs. Michael Nunn, I said as long as he can’t take me down, do leg kicks or elbows, choke me out or submit me that would be great (laughing)!

Donovan Dennis (12W – 4L) of Iowa faces 15 fight veteran Anthony Williams (5W, 9L, 1D of West Virginia.  Dennis weighed in last night at 198 pounds while Williams was heavy at 210 pounds. Even at the advanced age, Anthony Williams is not to be taken lightly, as he’s fresh of the biggest win of his career against previously undefeated heavyweight Kahlil Smoot (6wins – 0losses).  Dennis knows the importance of this fight and feels he has never looked better in training than of late at his new and natural weight of Cruiserweight. Dennis is part of Minnesota based Maximus Boxing Promotions (Scott Tolzmann) and has been working with Terrence Walker in preparation for tonight’s fights.

Also like Walker, Dennis had an extensive and successful amateur career (11X Iowa State Champion, National Golden Gloves finalist, Olympic Trials, etc.) which was capped-off by Donovan being drafted into the World Series of Boxing – Miami Gallos Team. He competed at a high level while campaigning in the heavyweight division but is now dropping back to his much more natural fighting weight in the cruiserweight division.
