BOXING: MORRIS, CARAWAY FIGHT FOR BRAGGING RIGHTS ON JANUARY 18

The Grand Casino in Hinckley, MN presents “Bragging Rights”, a Friday night boxing event on January 18th, 2019.  Former Minnesota state super lightweight champion Markus “Hooch” Morris (11-4, 7 KO’s) of Duluth, MN and DeLorien “Lord” Caraway (11-2, 6 KO’s) of Minneapolis, MN have agreed to meet in a long-awaited showdown in the night’s main event. The fight is set for 8 rounds in the 140-pound super lightweight division. Fans can expect the winner to face-off with champion Rondale Hubbert for the MN state title at a later date.

Morris, 28, is coming off of a razor-thin, split-decision title fight loss to Hubbert last August. A rematch initially appeared to be in the works but Hubbert has his sights set on the super featherweight division at this time. With Morris and Caraway standing in line of the three-way battle for state super lightweight dominance, it was a no-brainer to put together this fight for “bragging rights” and number 1 contender status.

“I’m looking forward to this fight”, said Morris. “It’s a fight that was supposed to have happened and now we are finally about to give the people and fans what they want. A good fight with two top super lightweights in the state. Fans can expect a great fight.”

Caraway says he has been looking to get his hands (fists) on either Hubbert or Morris for years. He finally gets his chance at a big-time local showdown of huge magnitude on January 18th.

“I appreciate him for stepping up, it’s been a long time coming”, said Caraway. “I want to thank the Grand Casino for putting me back on this platform again.”

Other fighters featured on the show include Minnesota state super featherweight champion Ramiro Hernandez, Marlin Sims, Joe James, Ryan Watson, Anthony Palmisano, and Cruse Stewart. More fights and opponents will be named shortly. Stay tuned for updates.
