Boxing Prospect Jerred Bradford Confirms Plans to Turn Pro
2022 National Golden Gloves tournament bronze medalist Jerred Bradford of Brooklyn Park confirmed with MN Boxing last week of plans to turn professional in the near future. The 23 year old Lyke’s Gym boxer has showcased solid talent on both the local and National stages despite having less than 15 bouts (12 wins, 2 losses). Bradford joins amateur boxers Arath Bautista and Knowledge Johnson on a list of exciting amateurs who have recently discussed plans to box professionally (Bautista had his pro debut plans fall through last month, Johnson says he wants some more amateur experience before turning pro).
Bradford won three bouts at the 2022 National GG tournament before losing to the eventual champion in the semifinals that year. People have come to know him as a powerful boxer-puncher that has a lot of fans and media outlets buzzing to see where he can take his career.
“We are thinking about turning pro this year” Bradford said. “I just want to give the fans another Minnesotan to root for, put on big shows, and bring a lot of excitement”.
Promoter Tony Grygelko believes that Bradford has the skills to make a big impact while also bringing lots of fans to the local scene. Grygelko has taken a three year break from promoting but has plans for a 2024 return with Bradford being a part of it. Bradford’s likeness to former world champion “Golden” Caleb Truax cannot go unnoticed as Grygelko stated when asked for his thoughts.
“Jerred Bradford has many of the same attributes that former world champion Caleb Truax had when he turned pro” stated Grygelko. “Jerred possesses both star power and persona, inside and outside of the ring making him a major attraction and a potential franchise athlete in Minnesota. His presence has ignited considerable excitement among Minnesota boxing enthusiasts who eagerly follow his career. Moreover, he’s the kind of athlete who can elevate the sport with his exceptional skills and draw substantial crowds.”
