BOXING: ROB BRANT JOINS WORLD BOXING SUPER SERIES

26 year old Robert “Bravo” Brant (22-0, 15 KOs), of St. Paul, Minnesota announced today that he will be one of eight fighters competing in the super middleweight division of the World Boxing Super Series, a boxing tournament stacked with fighters from all over the world.

“I will be proud to represent America in the World Boxing Super Series” said Brant. “I am young, I am undefeated, I am hungry and I am ready for the world stage. This is my time! I did not just enter this tournament, I am going to win the Muhammad Ali Trophy!”

Brant left this afternoon for Monte Carlo, Monaco to attend this Saturday’s draft Gala where he will find out which of the other super middleweight competitors he will be facing in September. The draft will be streamed live at www.WorldBoxingSuperSeries.com beginning at 4 p.m. Central time.

“In no time flat my life changed forever. I am making my way to Monaco so I can meet my potential opponents at 168 pounds. I couldn’t be more proud or focused in my life. This is my chance to get everything I’ve ever wanted in this life and I take that more seriously then anything. Our time to shine.”

Other fighters competing include George Groves (26-3, 19 KOs) and Callum Smith (22-0, 17 KOs) of England. Jamie Cox (23-0, 12 KOs) and Juergen Braehmer (48-3, 35 KOs), of Germany. Sweden’s Erik Skoglund (26-0, 12 KOs) and Turkey’s Avni Yildirim (16-0, 10 KO’s). ESPN reports that the winner between England’s Chris Eubank (24-1, 19 KO’s) and Arthur Abraham (46-5, 30 Ko’s) of Germany on July 15th will be taking the final slot.

It appeared Brant was next in line to fight for the WBA World middleweight title following last June’s title bout between Hassan N’Dam and Ryota Murata. N’Dam won the title in extremely controversial fashion as most observers believed Murata had won. Brant is the mandatory challenger and told Minnesota Fight News Afterwards, that he also believed Murata won but was ready to challenge N’Dam. Shortly after however, a mandatory rematch between N’Dam and Murata was ordered. Brant was then rumored to be fighting back home in Hinckley, Minnesota on August 25th right up until today’s World Boxing Super Series announcement.
