BOXING: RONDALE HUBBERT SAYS “I WON’T STOP UNTIL I GET THAT BIG WIN AWAY FROM HOME”
Minneapolis super lightweight Rondale “Give Em Hell” Hubbert (13-15-2, 8 ko’s) steps back in the ring tonight against another prospect in Thomas Mattice (15-2-1, 11 ko’s) of Cleveland, Ohio. The former state super lightweight champion doesn’t believe in taking an easy fight and is matched tough again tonight in Decatur, Georgia. Hubbert believes he’s been in against bigger and stronger opponents as he attempts to pull off the upset.
“To me he (Mattice) seems like he wants to box and yes he sets up his power shots. I’m that kid at the playground that you can beat up and take his lunch money everyday and I’m never gonna stop coming to that park because I like it there” said Hubbert. “The same goes with boxing. I can lose on the road 100 times but I wont stop until I get that win away from home and against someone nobody expected me to beat.”
“I’m feeling great physically and mentally. I did a lot of one on one training and I’ve just be trying to focus on getting in the best shape to perform the best.”
“I need to stay on the inside and make it a tough fight for him. Keep lots of pressure and keep him uncomfortable. He has good hand speed and footwork so I want to get him on the ropes and try to land some big shots. Ive fought bigger and heavier punchers.”
