BOXING: SEMITALA MOVES TO 10-0, VUE VICTORIOUS
21-year-old Saint Paul, Minnesota resident Rogers Semitala of Kampala, Uganda remained unbeaten last Saturday (April 28) night in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. Semitala moved his record to (10-0, 9 KO’s) after out-pointing DeWayne Wisdom (7-41-2, 3 KO’s) of Indiana in a 118-pound bout.
Semitala used his jab and reach to outbox and outpunch Wisdom. It was a tricky task because Wisdom constantly switched stances while looking to land a big shot. Semitala showcased good pace and boxing ability over six rounds of action. The judges saw the fight for Semitala unanimously with scores of 58-56, 58-56, and 60-55.
31 year old Duarn “The Storm” Vue (14-1-2, 4 KO’s) of Madison, Wisconsin won the World Boxing Association Inter-Continental Featherweight Title in the main event of the evening. Vue defeated Nehomar Cermeno (26-8-1, 15 KO’s) of Panama City, Panama over 12 rounds of action.
It was a rough and tough fight but Vue applied constant pressure and non-stop aggression as usual to earn the win. Nearly half of Vue’s fights have taken place in Minnesota where the Wisconsin fighter holds 7 victories. Minnesota referee Mark Nelson was the third man in the ring. Final scores read 116-111, 116-111, 114-113.
