CELSO “EL NIÑO” RAMIREZ FEATURED IN MNPLS TONIGHT

The forecast for tonight is calm and cool but a storm is set to hit El Rodeo Nuevo Restaurant tonight when Celso “EL NIÑO” Ramirez (1-0, 1 KO) enters the pro ring for the second time in his young career.

Ramirez blew through skilled and usually durable mixed martial artist Alex Wiggs last September in his pro debut at El Rodeo and the large crowd gave him one of the loudest ovations I have seen around here for a fighter making there pro debut.

“Well, the crowd was amazing and really supporting” said Ramirez.  When I was walking to the ring, the only thing that was going through my mind was getting the win that night and not letting all my people down, and to give the best show I could give to satisfy the crowd. I got a tough opponent and from the beginning of the camp I knew I was not going to get an easy opponent. We prepared ourselves for the worst. Down at the gym we work on something called “we work hard” “to make it look easy”.  I didn’t really know much going into the fight about Alex because it was a last minute switch but I knew it was not going to be easy. We knew the skills he had and we knew he was a tough fighter.  I think my performance was pretty good overall and I think the crowd went home satisfied.”

Ramirez will face another mixed martial artist making his pro debut in Alex Eastman of Washington tonight. Eastman is a kickboxer/mixed martial artist training out of American combat academy in Ellensburg, Washington who says he has been doing martial arts his whole life under his father Sean Eastman. Both fighters spoke to us about the match-up.

” I am super excited and the only thing you can expect is EL NIÑO is coming better, prettier, and stronger! It will be a great night not just for me but also for my older brothers and team” said Ramirez.

“ I love competition and am always in wars in my fights” said Eastman.  “I’m really excited for the opportunity. I heard that he’s a local guy and a good boxer. I plan on bringing the fight to him. I Feel like he’s underestimating me and I plan on shocking the hometown crowd. This fight is going to be a war and end with my hand getting raised.”

It’s still early in the 18 year old’s boxing career, but the future looks bright for Ramirez in the ring. With such a dominating performance like his last one, it’s hard to keep in mind that he is still a senior in high school and Ramirez says his education won’t stop there either in and out of the ring.

 “Even though it’s hard to go to school and then the gym after, I manage to do them both because I know the sacrifice is all worth it.  Right after high school, I plan on going straight to college so I make sure I have a back up plan because that’s what my family down at the Circle of Discipline tells me.”

“EL NIÑO” left us with one final message: “Just make sure you guys come out and support not just me, but also my older brothers. I can guarantee you will leave the place with the biggest smile on your face and asking when is the next show. Hopefully you leave as one of the “EL NIÑO” fans!”

Along with the 4 pro bouts, a good line up of amateur bouts are set to kick off the night’s action. Miguel Gomez is set to face Anuar Peralta. Michael Barreto will meet Manny Contreras, and Richard Quiterio will box Nchatxu Vang.
