DANNY HUFFMAN PLANNING TO THRILL FANS AGAIN TONIGHT FOLLOWING SOLID PERFORMANCE LAST MARCH
26 year old Danny “Lionhearted” Huffman (8-2-1, 2 KO’s) of Duluth, MN will meet Gary, Indiana’s Jonathan Hampton tonight at Element Gym in Saint Paul, MN. The six fight show is presented by Big Q Promotions and begins at 6 PM CST. Last time out, Huffman defeated Missouri’s Brandon “The Business” Baue (now 17-31, 10 KO’s) in round four of six last March 10th. Referee Mark Nelson stopped that fight after Huffman pounded away on Baue who was not punching back and was cut-bleeding over his left eye.
“I felt great (against Baue), my team had me 100% ready”. Huffman told Minnesota Boxing. “I had a great camp going into that fight. A full 8 week camp. I’ve been living right inside and out of the gym. Going in to the fight we new Baue was a tough Vet. We couldn’t give him any feeling that he had a chance in the ring. So from the opening bell the game plan was to execute constant pressure and we wanted him to get to the point where he wanted to just survive the fight. We knew he had great power so I had to keep that in mind. I listened to my corner really well, after the 3rd round Zach told me he’s ready, it’s time to get him out of there and to just be ready for those counter shots. I did exactly that, I slipped some dangerous shots and came back with some of my own and got him out of there.
Huffman sold out the tickets he was given weeks ago and had to contact promoter Quincy Caldwell for more. You can expect another supportive “Lionhearted” crowd at Element. Huffman says that this camp fight camp went just as well as the last and is ready. The 26 year old Huffman’s opponent Hampton went six hard rounds last December with Sona Akale , who headlines tonight and the Duluth boxer is expecting a tough fight and another great crowd.
“I’ve always had supportive fans, who can be a bit rowdy but they SHOW UP. I knew I was going to have a big crowd (at his last fight in Duluth), but I still can’t believe we packed The Garden and had a sold out crowd. I had a good performance (that night) and I really think I showed everyone out there that I come to fight.”
