GAVIN HENDRICKSON, TYLER NYSTROM CONFIRM FIGHT DATE AT TREASURE ISLAND
Middleweights Gavin Hendrickson (2-0-1, 2 KO’s) of Richfield, MN and Tyler Nystrom (1-1, 1 KO) of Superior, WI say that they will meet on April 13, 2024 at the Treasure Island Casino in Welch, Minnesota. The two boxers told MN Boxing that they are excited for the match up after signing contracts on Monday and Tuesday. Details on the show have been tricky to put together with just two weeks until the opening bell as Timothy Bender (1-0, 1 KO) of Minneapolis, MN versus Roman Cruz (1-1) of Grand Forks, ND is the other match that local boxers confirm which is currently set on the WFC Nevada based promoted show.
Boxers Colton Warner, Corey Thompson, Leo Medel, Terrence Walker and more are featured on the poster but each say that as of Monday, do not have opponents or fight contracts at this time. Walker says that he has a different fight lined up and another in the works as back up out of state. Those boxers do want to fight and have been training hard in camp however and are awaiting word. Coach Johnny Johnson at Sir Boxing and Fitness announced this week that former amateur standout Oscar Soto plans to make his pro boxing debut on the card. MMA and Kickboxing are also reportedly being featured that night.
Tyler Nystrom knocked out home-towner Keith Jackson Jr. in Philadelphia last January and Gavin Hendrickson would be returning following an exciting split-draw against rising MMA star Brandon Jenkins in December of 2022.
“Big fight for me, I think this is where I get to show what kind of fighter I am”. Said Nystrom. “He’s good and experienced but I’m also experienced as well. I’m being brought in as a “B” side fighter, should be an easy win for him on paper but I’m going to make it his hardest fight yet. I’m fast, strong, technical, and I’m tough. This will be my 4th time (3rd technically) fighting on the professional stage. I’ve got my feet wet, this is going to be a good fight. Two young guys early in our careers and I can’t wait. Can’t wait to fight back in MN again in front of my friends family and fans!

“I can’t wait to get back in the ring”! Said Hendrickson. It’s been over a year and I’m a much stronger fighter now. I hope I can stay busy this year. Me and Eddy Valenzuela have been sparring a lot at Minnesota top team so I’ll be ready”.
