HSER HTOO COMPETES AT LAST CHANCE QUALIFIERS THIS AFTERNOON
The 2023 USA Boxing Last Chance Qualifier comes to an end tomorrow in Colorado but Minnesota still has one boxer waiting to box. Backyard Boxing’s Hser Htoo of Saint Paul competes in today’s noon session at 112 pounds. Maximiliano Baez of Pennsylvania is his opponent in an elite male bout and both boxers bring National competition wins to the table. The winner of Htoo-Baez will face off against either #1 seeded Aaron Maximus Garcia of Utah (21 National tournament wins) or Gilberto Valdez of Texas. There are 6 boxers at 112 pounds in all competing this week.
You can watch the bout live this afternoon at https://www.usaboxing.org/live-stream. Htoo vs. Baez takes place in ring #1, bout #7.
Hser Htoo: “I’m excited for this fight, and excited to show my skills. I don’t know anything about my opponent, but I’m ready for it and ready to give it my all.”
Jose Becerra: “We usually don’t get information about the opponent because we know most of these kids have some national tournament wins and some of them have world experience. We know it is going to be a hard fight because everyone wants to win!”
The 2023 Last Chance Qualifier is the final chance to secure their spot at December’s U.S. Olympic Team Trials in Lafayette, La. The six-day qualifying event features both male and females in the youth divisions (ages 17 to 18) as well as the elite category (ages 19 to 39).
