Valhalla Combat Sport Inc. will host a night of live Jiu Jitsu and Kickboxing tonight in Fridley, MN. The action kicks off with a Purple Belt and above Jiu Jitsu tournament beginning at 5 PM. At approximately 6 PM, the kickboxing portion of the show will kick-off with the action estimated to conclude at around 9 PM.
Valhalla has been the lone host of live events involving martial arts since March and Promoter James Clark says putting this show together was easy work as fighters were excited to get back to action now that Government restrictions due to Covid-19 have begun to ease. Until last week, gyms were forced to close and fighters had to settle largely for at home training.
” The show was fairly easy to match” Clark told Mn Fight News. Sometimes, it takes me weeks to book this many matches. I did it in days. People were itching to get out and finally compete in something!
Scheduled to meet in the Kickboxing main event was Andrew Case-Allan of Minneapolis in a fight billed as 800 pounds of Andrew. However Case-Allan (4-1 amateur MMA record) was left opponent-less when Andrew Gordon of South Dakota pulled out late last week. Tough mixed martial artist Justin Stuart (11-4-1 amateur MMA record) of Albert Lea, MN stepped in on 2 days notice to challenge Case-Allan in the new main event.
The Father’s day Fracas features interesting bouts and last night’s weigh-in’s also showcased a few intense stare downs which foreshadow tonight’s bouts. Valhalla’s Josh Clark meets Mac Bergman of American Top Team in Savage, MN. This match up of skilled young guns should be action packed. To stay busy during gym downtime over the last few months, Clark has been setting world records including the most boxing pad/ mitt rounds consecutively and the most sit-ups done in 5 minutes (305).
The Purple belt and above Brazilian Jiu Jitsu tournament will feature weights of 165-180 pounds. The winner will take home a Viking Ax made by Valhalla sponsor The Riddle of Steel. Nicholas Craton, Chris Hansmann, Karter Holthusen, Mike Waverek, and Clay Uddley are some of the names listed as competing.
