Lakes Area Boxing presents ‘New Years Bash’

The Lakes Area Boxing presents the “New Years Bash” this weekend. Top-ranked boxers from around the Midwest and Canada will be featured in the 20-match event.
Doors open at 2 p.m. and boxing starts at 3 p.m. Admission is $15 for adults, $10 for students and $5 for kids eight year old and under.
Over 13 teams from across Minnesota, North and South Dakota, Wisconsin and Canada will be in attendance. Boxers from ages 9-32 will be fighting from the 60-pound weight class to super heavyweight.
The co-main event will feature Lakers Area Boxing’s own and DLHS senior Mavrick Collins versus Isaiah Rock of Power Boxing Club from Winnipeg, Canada. The main event will showcase Vladimere Alverez of Power Boxing Club against J.J. Ruiz of St. Cloud Area Golden Gloves Boxing.
Lakes Area Boxing will also be represented by Dalton Bymers and Carter Hanks of DLHS and Glen Sommers Jr. from Perham.
Bymers and Sommers Jr. recently won the Minnesota State Silver Gloves Tournament. Bymers won the 119-pound weight division and Sommers Jr. won the 138-pound weight division. Both boxers will compete in the 2024 Region 4 Silver Gloves Tournament on Jan. 13 at the Meshakwad Community Center in Hinckley, Minn. A win secures a spot in the 2024 National Silver Gloves Tournament in Independence, Missouri.
