LEO MEDEL MEETS GILBERT VENEGAS IN SUPER WELTERWEIGHT BATTLE
Undefeated Apple Valley, Minnesota super welterweight Leo Medel (6-0, 5 KO’s) takes on the toughest and most experienced opponent of his career tonight when he meets Texas born Gilbert Venegas Sr. (19-37-5, 8 KO’s) of Iowa in a six round bout. The 30 year-old Medel has been impressive as a pro, stopping 5 of 6 opponents inside the distance. Medel, of the CMB Boxing gym with coach Oscar Chavez, believe they are ready for the step up fight and plan to put on a good show.
“Yeah that’s what my team wants, to get that experience out of this fight. We know he’s going to come to throw bombs so we have to be on the lookout for that. He’s a pressure fighter as am I so it’s going to be a good show.”
Venegas has traveled the country, giving prospects tough fights and has been in the ring with notable Minnesota boxers including Corey Rodriguez (2013), Bobby Butters (2001), Mohammed Kayongo (2013), Rondale Hubbert (2015), DeLorien Caraway (2016, 2017). Even at 46, Venegas Sr. is very durable and he’s proven a tough to stop (stopped 8 times in 61 bouts).
Promoter Quincy Caldwell and Dalton Outlaw of Element Gym present the boxing at Element in Saint Paul, MN. The show kicks off at 6 PM CST and you can also purchase tickets online at www.qfights.com or at the door.
