Marlin Sims Joins Cruse Stewart and David Morrell Jr. on MNPLS Armory Show December 16
Marlin “So Icey” Sims (8-2) of Minneapolis, MN (currently residing in Florida) has been added to the list of Minnesota boxers in action on December 16, 2023 at the Minneapolis Armory. Sims is excited to return to Minnesota to box in front of friends and family where he went 38 wins and 9 losses as an amateur and where he fought most of his pro bouts. The 31 year old southpaw will face 20 year old Charles “LoLo” Harris Jr. (7-1) of Rialto, California in a six round lightweight bout.
Sims recently moved to Florida for new adventures and faces Harris who is a former number one Nationally rated amateur who turned pro at the age of 16.
“I will be happy to get back in the ring and I’m super pumped that it’s back in my hometown” Sims told MN Boxing. “I don’t know anything about my opponent but doesn’t matter at all. It’s a short notice fight and the highest weight I’ve been. The reason I took the fight is because I just want to get back in the ring. I can’t wait for the perfect opponent or the perfect time frame. Once the bell ring I know what to do, it’s just up to me to do it.”
David Morrell Jr. (9-0, 8 KO’s) is set to defend his WBA “Regular” Super Middleweight world title against Sena Agbeko (28-2, 22 KOs) of Ghana in the 12 round main event.
Cruse “The Hitman” Stewart (8-2, 6 KO’s) of Maple Grove, MN will face 29 year old Kyrone Davis (17-3-1, 6 KO’s) of Wilmington, Deleware in an 8 round middleweight bout on the undercard.
The Premier Boxing Champions card will be memorable for another reason: It’s the last hurrah for Showtime Championship Boxing. After 37 years of televising pro boxing globally, Showtime plans to exit the sport. The Armory card will be Showtime’s last boxing telecast.
