Matt “The Predator” Vanda to be Inducted into Mancini’s Sports Hall of Fame

Former professional boxer and Saint Paul’s own Matt “The Predator” Vanda will be inducted into the Mancini’s Sports Hall of Fame on Monday, May 12, 2025. This prestigious honor recognizes Vanda’s remarkable career and his lasting impact on the sport of boxing and the Saint Paul community.

A proud son of the East Side, Vanda built a reputation as one of Minnesota’s most popular and accomplished fighters. Over a career spanning more than a decade, he fought in rings across the country, earning respect for his tenacity, skill, and resilience. His success and dedicated fan base made him a household name in the boxing world, but it was Saint Paul that always remained closest to his heart.

“Although I’ve boxed all over the country, being recognized in my home state of Minnesota is the most meaningful to me,” said Vanda. “To be honored by the people who have supported me throughout my career, in a place as special as Mancini’s, is something I’m truly grateful for. I love Mancini’s Restaurant, and I’m proud to be inducted alongside so many great Saint Paul athletes.”

Vanda’s impact on the sport extends beyond his own career. Now retired from professional boxing, he dedicates his time to coaching youth amateur boxers at the Rice Street Old School Gym, helping to shape the next generation of fighters. Outside of boxing, his greatest pride is his role as a husband and father.

Vanda is already a member of the Minnesota Boxing Hall of Fame, and his induction into the Mancini’s St. Paul Sports Hall of Fame further cements his legacy as one of the city’s most celebrated athletes.

Founded by the late Nick Mancini in 1985, the Mancini’s Sports Hall of Fame annually honors local athletes for their athletic achievements and contributions to the advancement of sports. Inductees hail from Saint Paul’s neighborhood sandlots, ice rinks, boxing rings, pick-up courts, and Friday night lights, representing the rich athletic tradition of the city.

Vanda’s induction ceremony will be held at Mancini’s Char House, continuing a tradition that has honored generations of Saint Paul sports legends.
