MINNESOTA BOXING SCENE UPDATE

“GOLDEN” CALEB TRUAX RETURNS AUGUST 20
Minnesota middleweight champion Caleb Truax returns on August 20th in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Truax is scheduled to face southpaw Joshua Okine (28-7-1, 17 KO’s) of Ghana in the co-featured bout of the evening. The main event features local Wisconsin middleweight prospect Luis Arias (15-0, 7 KO’s). Arias takes on Darryl Cunningham (33-8, 13 KO’s) of Detroit, Michigan.

PRO BOXING, AMATEUR BOXING, KICKBOXING, MMA AUGUST 26-27 IN MNPLS
A weekend of combat sports is set for the end of August at The Cabooze in Minneapolis. Pro boxing and kickboxing will kick things off on Friday, August 26th beginning at 5pm. Then on Saturday, August 27th, amateur boxing and MMA will take place in the afternoon. Two Saint Paul based boxers will duke it out for the vacant MN State featherweight title when “Bad” Brad Patraw (10-8, 5 KO’s) meets Philip Adyaka (5-7, 3 KO’s in a featured 8 round bout. Ismail “The Sharp Shooter” Muwendo (17-0, 12 KO’s) is set to return after an arm injury has left him sidelined for over a year. Muwendo is rumored to be facing Gilbert Venegas. Other boxing bouts include Ramiro Hernandez vs. Homar Rios and Vinny Downwind vs. John Schimon. Van Goodman is scheduled to fight an opponent to be named. More bouts to be announced shortly.

JASON LITZAU POISED FOR HOMECOMING BOUT LATER THIS YEAR
“The American Boy” Jason Litzau (29-3-1, 22 KO’s) is rumored to have signed a multi-fight deal with promoter Jim Loons and The Black Bear Casino in Carlton, MN. Litzau is expected to box at the next scheduled show at the Casino which is November 12th although nothing official has been confirmed at this time. Litzau last boxed a year ago when he fought to a draw against Hylon Williams in a bout most believe he dominated.

JOEY ABELL HEALING WHILE BIG OFFERS COME IN
“Minnesota Ice” Joey Abell (32-9, 30 KO’s) suffered a rib injury in his big televised win over Wes Nofire last May in Carlton, MN. Abell is able to train now and is looking for a September return. Word is that some big fight offers have been offered to Abell after he knocked out Nofire.

TWO MORE SHOWS SET FOR SEPTEMBER 17 AND OCTOBER 1ST
PMG 360 Promotions and the Circle of Discipline will be holding a boxing event on September 17th at El Nuevo Rodeo Restaurant in Minneapolis. No bout has been officially released but the main event is a state title bout that you will not want to miss. More on that in the coming days. The Grand Casino in Hinckley, MN’s next scheduled fight card is set for October 1st. Stay tuned for updates on that one as well.
