MMA: CASTANEDA COMPETES IN UFC CONTENDER SERIES TONIGHT
John “Sexi Mexi” Castaneda (13-2) of The Academy competes tonight on the UFC’s Tuesday night
contender series live from the UFC Training Center in Las Vegas, Nevada. The Minnesotan faces Hawaii’s Cheyden Leialoha (6-0) and the live streaming begins at 7 PM central time on UFC Fight Pass.
Castaneda is on an 8 fight win streak and another victory could land him a permanent place in the UFC.
“I expect a tough fight from my opponent” said Castaneda. “He’s 6-0 but hasn’t really fought anyone with any credentials. A “padded record” as some might say. He’s coming out of a tough camp though, training out of Hawaii with max Holloway, Russell Duane, etc. Leialoha is tough but has never fought someone on my skill level and I know for a fact that I’ve fought someone on his level.
I’m on an 8 fight win streak and a 3 fight finishing streak so I don’t see how they could deny me a UFC contract with a win. He’s a taller lengthy 135 pounder and I’m going to have the advantage standing up, and on the ground. I’m too experienced for him and not like these guys he’s been fighting.”
The Castaneda-Leialoha bout appears to be the first fight scheduled for tonight so tune in early.
