MMA: CASTANEDA, GIRTZ MAKE WEIGHT FOR TV FIGHTS

Minnesotan’s John Castaneda and Brandon Girtz both made weight last night and will headline major televised fight cards tonight.
John “Sexi Mexi” Castaneda (16-3) of Minneapolis, MN fights in the main event of“Combate Estrellas I” at the Shrine in Los Angeles, California. Castaneda will now be facing Jose “Pochito” Alday after his original opponent Marc Gomes was not medically cleared to fight (eye issue). Castaneda weighed in last night at 136 pounds while Alday came in at 135.2. The show will be televised live on Univision.

Brandon Girtz (15-7) of Wyoming, MN made weight for his lightweight fight versus former Bellator champion Michael Chandler of Missouri. The two lightweights battle in Bellator 197’s main event live on the Paramount Network (formerly Spike TV). Girtz weighed in at 156 while Chandler came in at 155.3.
