MMA: LFA 12 At Mystic Lake Recap

MnMMANews.com: Minnesota fighters had some ups and downs during Friday’s LFA 12 event at Mystic Lake Casino. But overall, it was another incredible showing for the major promotion.
Minnesota’s Ben “The Baker” Neumann fell short in his title quest in the night’s main event.
Neumann squared off against elite striker Derrick Krantz for the inaugural LFA welterweight title. The fighters felt each other out on the feet for much of the first round, but Krantz came out firing in the second. He dropped Neumann early and followed him to the ground, raining down punches until he got the stoppage 55 seconds into the frame.

In the co-main event, Cully Butterfield controlled the action with his wrestling. Butterfield took down Chase Waldon at will in all three rounds, keeping the fight on the ground for nearly the full 15 minutes.
But on the ground, Waldon was clearly the more active fighter. Waldon landed some excellent strikes from bottom, and he consistently went for submission attempts. That left the judges with a tough decision. Though Butterfield held top position for the entire fight, he was unable to advance positions or consistently unleash ground and pound.
One judge scored it 29-28 for Butterfield, but the other two judges scored it 29-28 for Waldon, giving him a split-decision victory. The crowd did not agree with the decision and let the judges hear about it.
