MMA: LFA 38 HEADS TO MNPLS FRIDAY NIGHT

Legacy Fighting Alliance (LFA) brings a night of mixed martial arts to the Armory in Minneapolis, MN on Friday, April 27. The main portion of the show will air live on AXS TV beginning at 8 p.m. CST.

The main event of LFA 38 will feature the return of LFA heavyweight champion Jeff “Lights Out” Hughes when he defends his title against LFA #1 heavyweight contender Maurice “The Pirate” Greene of Saint Cloud, MN.

There will be 16 total fights with the co-feature being a 185-pound match between Bevon Lewis (4-0) and Colin Huckbody (3-1). The card also features a female bout between Mallory Martin vs. Linsey Williams, also of Minnesota.

“This is going to be a fantastic card of some of the best young MMA fighters in the country,” said LFA Matchmaker Brock Larson. “A card like this a first of its kind in Minnesota and a great way for these young fighters to get the exposure they need to move on to the next level.”

Maurice Greene lands a right hand against Parnell Davis last September in Mahnomen, MN.

The 6-foot-7, 265-pound Maurice Greene will present a formidable opponent for the champion because of his skill and size. He has won in both of his fights with the LFA. At LFA 19 in August 2017, Greene submitted Jermaine McDermott with a triangle choke. The Saint Cloud powerhouse defeated Parnell Davis last September for Driller Promotions by armbar submission in under a minute.

Champion Jeff Hughes, from Ohio, trains with UFC heavyweight champion Stipe Miocic. He won the LFA heavyweight belt at LFA 26 this past November with a unanimous decision win over Richard Odoms. That fight was Hughes’ LFA debut. The 29-year-old has half of his pro wins by stoppage, including three knockouts or TKOs.

Bevon Lewis made his promotional debut at LFA 10 and took a decision from Sonny Yohn. Then this past August, he got a TKO win over Elias Urbina on Dana White’s Contender Series 8 in Las Vegas

Collin Huckbody has won three of his first four professional fights with his last win coming against Ryot Waller at No Mercy 7 on February 10.

A press conference and weigh-in are set for Thursday, April 26, at two times at the same location: 2:00 pm with the Minnesota combat sports commission and again at 6 pm televised live on AXS.TV.
