MMA: RESULTS FROM NO MERCY VII

Minnesota MMA Results: No Mercy VII in Mahnomen, MN last Saturday night proved how entertaining a well matched card can be no matter how long each fight ends up lasting. The fighters showed up to bang and the result was a night filled with brutal knockouts and lighting submissions. Deejay St. Joel and veteran ring announcer Greg Lowe kept the show running smoothly for the thrilled Shooting Star Casino crowd when the fighters were not trading blows.

In the main event, Milwaukee, Wisconsin’s Montel Jackson (3-0) stopped Jesse Wannemacher (3-2) of Fergus Falls, MN by TKO (punches) in round two. Both fighters came out to mix it up but Jackson struck first with with a head kick that dropped Wannemacher early. Jackson looked to finish with punishing blows but Wannemacher survived while attempting a few arm bars from his back along the cage.

Undeterred, Wannemacher stayed in the pocket and engaged with Jackson to start round two. The Milwaukee prospect was sharp though and continued to connect while Wannemacher showed why he’s a fan favorite. Jackson landed a fight ending right hand to the torn eye of Wannemacher and the referee stopped the fight in round two with Wannemacher on his feet.

In the co-featured pro fight of the night, Minnesotan Collin Huckbody (3-1) sunk in an arm triangle 1:39 into the opening round to defeat former Driller amateur champion Ryot Waller (2-4) of Illinois. Waller’s stand up skills are well known so Huckbody quickly took Waller down to the mat where he eventually landed the fight ending submission.

Somebody’s “0” had to go in the featured amateur fight of the night and it was Joel Bauman (5-0) of Woodbury, MN that kept his undefeated record intact. Bauman defeated North Dakota’s Manatua Lemaire (4-1) and won the vacant Driller amateur middle weight title in the process.
Again, both fighters stepped out of their corners with two-fisted bad intentions. The hulking Lemaire missed with a few canon ball shots but Bauman landed his, a right hand to the jaw that stunned Lemaire and the fight was quickly stopped by the referee before he took anymore damage against the cage.
