MMA: TONY MARTIN DEFEATS NAKAMURA AT UFC 128
Tony Martin (13-4 MMA, 5-4 UFC) defeated Keita Nakamura (33-9-2 MMA, 3-3 UFC) last night at UFC Fight Night 128, taking all three rounds in a welterweight match up. The fight took place at the Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, New Jersey and was streamed live on UFC Fight Pass. Martin looked strong in his move up to 170 pounds and dominated the first round by pushing the pace and landing uppercuts and rights to the head. Nakamura’s left eye was swelling by the end of the round.
Martin continued to out-punch Nakamura in round two. Round three saw Nakamura shoot for takedowns but Martin countered on the ground each time with submission attempts before eventually bringing the fighters back to their feet. It was another solid performance by the former Minnesota resident with scores reading 30-27 by all three judges. Martin resided in Saint Cloud, Mn before moving to Boston and most recently Florida, where he trains at American Top Team.
