PEREZ HEADLINES MNPLS PRO-AM SATURDAY NIGHT
Jonathan “J-Blaze” Perez (10-0, 6 KO’s) will box in this Saturday nights main event at El Nuevo Rodeo Restaurant in Minneapolis, MN. Perez, along with his Circle of Discipline teammates packed the venue back in September and the same type of turnout is expected tomorrow night.
Perez won a hard fought majority decision last September against a tough fighter by the name of Omar Avelar from Washington. Avelar was a short notice sub because Perez’s original opponent fell through on him. Avelar officially weighed in 15 pounds heavier then Perez and appeared to be 20-25 pounds larger then the Minnesotan on fight night, but Perez says he trained to fight and that the size difference was not going to stop him on that night.
“He was supposed to come in at the fight weight” said Perez. He was over at weigh in’s, but I knew a lot of fans had planned on being there so we didn’t care about the weight. I learned I can’t knock everyone out but it was good experience.”
Perez will fight along side pro teammates Celso Ramirez, VeShawn Owens and Harold Calderon as well as the amateur boxers in the bouts that will kick off the action which begins at 4pm.
“I am going to keep training hard and the fans can expect another exciting night of fights” said Perez. “Celso and the rest of the Circle of Discipline fighters bring a lot of fans and that kind of atmosphere pushes us even more. I wan’t to thank my C.O.D. family and dedicate this fight to my son.
After the live action, fans can stay to watch the Pay Per View clash between Canelo Alvarez and Miguel Cotto.
