TOMMY MATLON WINS WISCONSIN HEAVYWEIGHT TITLE WITH FIRST ROUND KO
Tommy Matlon (now 3-2, 2 KO’s) of Minneapolis, MN won the vacant Wisconsin state heavyweight title this Saturday night as he steamrolled past Dominicc Hardy (now 5-2, 3 KO’s) of Illinois in Marinette, WI. Matlon’s jab was on point early, snapping the head of Hardy who met Matlon center ring. Matlon showed good head movement as he worked his way through the guard of Hardy. Matlon dug a hard left to the body allow with thudding head shots seemed to be setting up Hardy with a trip to the canvas but a push by Matlon at the end of the flurry was what ultimately dropped the Illinois heavyweight and referee Mark Nelson did not rule it a knockdown. Hardy slowly got to his feet with a smile but he did not have all of his senses. Matlon marched forward with pole like left and rights that drove Hardy back to the ropes. Hardy attempted to fight back but Matlon did not let up off the gas and threw punch after hard punch that eventually rocked Hardy into a corner. Referee Mark Nelson jumped in to waive the fight off moments before Hardy slumped to the canvas. The official time of stoppage was 1:47 of the first round.

“First I wanna thank my beautiful wife for always supporting me I know I gave you and the kiddos a scare but I’m I will be home soon. Second I wanna thank my team and sparring partners who helped me prepare for this fight during camp. I wanna say thank you to everyone back home who tuned in to support a small town kid who’s chasing his dream it means a lot to me, I feel as if I let everyone down and it sucks not getting the result you want but I’ve battled a lot of adversity in my life and this is just that. It’s not over and I will not let this loss define me as a man a father or a fighter. I will be back and will be better.”
