Live round by round results from “For the Love of Boxing” at Lykes Boxing Gym in Circle Pines, MN .

Jack Bakken, 16, 118 lbs. of Lykes Boxing vs. Brandon Seaberg, of Jungle Gym 16, 119 lbs.
– There was not a lot of defense but plenty of offense as both boxers traded punch after punch. Seaberg earned a standing 8 on his opponent just as round two closed and another in round three. Bakken had his moments also throughout, forcing Seaberg to turn his back.
Result: Brandon Seaberg winner by unanimous decision

Joaquin Rangel, 19, 152 lbs. vs. Jose Saucedo Larranaga, 22, 160 lbs. of Lykes Boxing
– Jose comes out swinging wildly, pressing forward aggressively out of the southpaw stance wile Joaquin looked to cover and counter. Both boxers had success but Larranaga appeared to be up on points after one round. Rangel closed strong however. Round two, was much like the first, a good boxing match. Rangel came out more aggressively in the third round and it was his turn to press the action. Larranaga turned the tide again midway and dropped Larranaga with a flurry on the ropes. It may not have been ruled a knockdown as no count was awarded and Larranaga was spoken to by referee Veid M. The bout came to a close with both boxers trading to the bell.
Result: Jose Larranaga winner by split decision

Jabril Rahim, 9, 65 lbs. of Lucy Laney vs. Rory Shelstad, 8, 60 lbs. of Lykes Boxing
– Jabril pressed the action scoring an early standing 8 by head shots but Rory fired right back during the process. Jabril scored another standing 8 with quick and accurate combos moments later but again to his credit, Rory fired back while taking the punches. Jabril did not sit during rounds to rest. Rory came out aggressive, landing shots and putting Jabril on the defensive to begin round 2. The two boys traded valiantly until the bell. Jabril sent Rory to the canvas again with a countering headshot to begin the third. Rory looked a little off balance and wild. Jabril pressed the action and scored a standing 8 as Rory looked a little winded. Referee Veid M. waived the bout off just before the bell.
Result: Jabril Rahim winner by RSC 3.

Marc Zuber, 16, 114 lbs. of Jungle Gym vs. Ben Xiong, 17, 110 lbs. of Lykes Boxing
– Xong pressed the action right at the bell, switching from south paw to orthodox and back. Zuber held his ground and picked his shots to counter. The action slowed midway and both boxers looked for openings. Round two, Nice counter left hook to start for Zuber as Xiong again pressured. Xiong controlled the round on points as the aggressor but Zuber did well countering for his part. Round three, Xiong scored knockdown with a head punch that sent Zuber to the canvas. Zuber rose but Veid waived the fight off.
Result: Xiong winner by RSC 3

Oscar Tanner, 8, 60 lbs. of Lucy Laney vs. Chev Addyman, 17, 110 lbs. of Lykes Boxing
– Tanner slickly moved in and out, hands down, landing quick and fast punches, scoring a standing 8 moments in. Addyman recovered, punched back behind a high guard but Tanner did not let up until the bell, scoring well. Round two, Tanner pounced again to begin the second, Addyman scored nicely on the inside however with body shots on the ropes. Tanner landed some nice counters in the mix but Addyman made it a brawl and it worked for him to end the round. Round 3, The two boxers met face to face and traded punches to begin the third. Tanner looked to box, Addyman make it a fight and the crowd cheered the excellent effort by both boxers.
Result: Chev Addyman by split decision

Jovany Carbojal, 19, 122 lbs. of Padillas Boxing vs. Jonathan Yang, 21, 120 lbs. of Lykes Boxing
– Both Carbojal and Yang showed nice skill and composure. Round one was an even chess match between two good looking boxers. Round two, Just when Carbojal scored with a head snapping punch, Yang would fire back and land one of his own. Fun fight so far and tough to score. The chess match turned into a slugfest to start the third round and the action stayed intense for most of the tough to score round and fight.
Result: Winner by split decision is Jovany Carbojal

Devin Carter, 11, 75 lbs. of Sir Boxing vs. Grant Hansen, 12, 70 lbs. of Lykes Boxing
– Good even bout to begin the seventh match of the night. Hensen got the upper hand to start the round, matching forward and landing head shots. Carter composed himself, bouncing on his toes and returned blows of his own. Hansen won the round. Round three, Carter bobbed and weaved to start to avoid the attacks of Hansen. The two boxers traded turns seizing momentum for the remainder of the round as neither wanted to give an inch.
Result: Grant Hansen by split decision

Ryan Gibbons, 16, 140 lbs. of Sir Boxing vs. Gael Perez, 17, 147 lbs. of Padilla Boxing
-Gibbons, the taller and rangier of the two used his jab early to keep the shorter but aggressive Perez off of him. Gibbons pressed moments later, sending Perez to the ropes with left-right combos to the head. Perez was slick for his own account and scored at times while back pedaling. Gibbons rocked Perez with a left-right as the bell sounded to end the round which went to Gibbons. Round two, both Gibbons and Perez had moments to be proud of in round two offensively. Gibbons landed the heavier blows again in the round. The boxers looked a little winded as round three went on but both refused to take a step back. All heart from both to end the round with each looking to land a finishing haymaker.
Result: Ryan Gibbons with the unanimous decision win

Stevie Moctezuma, 13, 141 lbs. vs. Jack Ruegsegger, 29, 140 lbs. of Lykes Gym
– Ruegsegger had the crowd behind him and scored well while coming forward to begin round two. Moctezuma took over from there and pushed the pace in the second half of a fun round. It was still anyone’s bout as round three neared the midway point. Moctezuma, the taller boxer tried landing a big shots while Moctezuma took over with speedier and accurate action.
Result: Stevie Moctezuma by split decision

Farhad Noor, 20, 190 lbs. of COD vs. Muajpeevxwm Vang, 25, 190 lbs. of Lykes Boxing
– Vang also had a huge ovation and was a crowd favorite as the names were announced. Vang shot out of his corner, boxing out of the southpaw stance. Vang forced Noor to the ropes with head punches, Noor’s mouthpiece fell and action halted to get it put back in. Noor came fought back out of the break. Vang, taller, stuck and moved to control the round. Noor, also boxing southpaw, stood his ground until the bell. Vang appeared to win the first round. Round two, Noor had a better start to round two, landing nice body shots on the inside and connecting to the head as well. Vang returned punches but Noor landed cleaner and more often. Vang came on strong however later, landing unanswered head shots that stunned and knocked the mouth piece of Noor out again. Vang shot of of his corner and against pounded the mouthpiece of Noor out with punches. Veid M. took a close look at Noor. The two boxers brawled again center ring following the break. Vang won the round but Noor had the slight upper hand at the bell. Round three, with the crowd going wild, Vang scored a standing 8 as the boxers went to war. The moment seemed to propel Vang into the sure lead but Noor didn’t give an inch and the boxers earned a well deserved standing ovation from the crowd. Great showing by both with Vang appearing to take the victory.
Result: Vang wins the final bout of the night by split decision.
