RESULTS FROM THE GRAND CASINO HINCKLEY

Colton Warner (now 9-2) of Apple Valley, MN won by decision over Brandon Carmack (now 8-7-2) in the main event at the Grand Casino in Hinckley, MN on Friday night. Scores read 58-56, 58-56 for Warner and 57-57.

Warner and Carmack went right at each other at the bell to begin round one of the main event at the Grand Casino in Hinckley, MN. Both men landed thudding straight right hands to the head. Warner was busier but Carmack was not far behind in output. Warner landed the bouts first hard body shot with :30 left in the first round.
Warner pressed to get close and inside with pressure. Carmack retaliated with hard combinations while standing his ground. Warner didn’t stray from the body attack as round two came to a close.
Warner tempted Carmack earlier and again to start round three with his hands low as he worked. Warner landed a thudding right to the head and Carmack buzzed Warner in return. Warner began fighting at angles as he grew in confidence. He took a few to the head but Carmack slowed slightly and Warner pressed forward. Carmack scored at the bell with head shots with Warner inviting him in.

Warner’s athletisism and better conditioning kept him in the lead into round five. Carmack had success with less frequent counter punches that hit their mark. A cut under Warner’s eye was ruled an accidental headbutt by referee Mark Nelson. Carmack had trouble punching back out of exhaustion as round five came to a close.
The sixth and final round was a grueling one with Warner doing the majority of the work with combinations and Carmack putting everything he had left into trying to land a fight ending shot. Both men fought toe to toe until the bell.

Bryan Hall (now 2-5-1) stopped local favorite Tim Taggart Jr (6-6-2) at 1:19 of round four in a heavyweight bout.
Taggart and Hall appeared to split the first two rounds in a chess match between hard-punching heavyweights.
Hill popped the jab and came forward in round three as he grew in confidence. Taggart cocked his right hand and tried to land something big. Hall tee’d off on Taggart as the Minnesotan backed to a corner.
Looking to take the momentum back, Taggart landed a hard right to the head of Hall to begin the fourth and final round. Hall stayed composed, walked forward and unloaded head shots. Referee Robinson saw the body language of Taggart and jumped between the fighters at 1:19 into the fourth round. Taggart wore what looked like a torn bicep as he sat on his stool afterward. Taggart, who valiantly fought despite a death in the family recently, announced his retirement following the fight.

Antonio Woods (now 13-1, 10 KO’s) vs. Wilfrido Buelvas (26-21) in a 6 round middleweight bout.

Woods kept a high guard and walked down the veteran Buelvas in round one. Later, Woods trapped Buelvas on the ropes and landed a right to the body that dropped Buelvas at 1:30 in the second round. The knockdown was setup by a right-left to the head just prior. A hard right hand to the head dropped Buelvas shortly after again and referee Mark Nelson stopped the fight at 1:43 of the second round.

Tyler Nystrom (now 2-2-1) of Superior, WI defeated Gavin Hendrickson (now 2-1-3) of Richfield, MN by majority decision. The fight was originally announced as another majority draw . The two previously fought to a majority draw in 2024. This fight was another thriller for fans.

Hendrickson boxed from the outside while Nystrom tried to work to the inside being the shorter of the two. A headclash on the ropes caused a cut over the left eye of Hendrickson in round two. Nystrom showed the power advantage in the exchanges so far.

Hendrickson peppered the jab nicely to start round three but Nystrom began timing it and landed some nice right hands to the head of Hendrickson. Hendrickson used his long reach to score from the outside to keep the fight close through three rounds.

Huge exchanges from both boxers let loose to begin round four as the fight turned into a grinder on the inside. Hendrickson began going to the body midway through round four which scored. Nystrom joined the bloody party with a bloody nose as Hendricksons cut also continued to flow. Nystrom landed a hard left hook that stalled the momentum by Hendrickson with :20 remaining in the round.

Nystrom went right on the attack to start the fifth but Hendrickson returned punches in numbers from the outside. Hendrickson kept coming forward in another grueling round and effort from both.

Gavin Hendrickson (now 2-0-4) of Richfield, MN and Tyler Nystrom (now 1-2-2) of Superior, WI boxed to another draw in a middleweight bout. The two previously fought to a majority draw in 2024. This fight was another thriller for fans.

Cayman Audie (now 3-1, 1 KO) of Hinckley, MN meets Derek Benoit of Saint Cloud, MN (now 0-1) in a 4 round heavyweight bout.

Audie landed some big left hand bombs to the head out of the southpaw stance to score early. Benoit landed a borderline belt punch that was ruled in play by referee Mark Nelson that dropped a grimacing Audie.

Audie came back with a left hook that dropped Benoit to the canvas moments after action resumed. Audie wasted no time waiting and threw haymakers that hit their mark. Benoit did well to clinch and keep his bearings. Benoit scored well at times but Audie had the heavier hands of the two as round two came to a close

Benoit settled in despite heavy shots coming from Audie and got himself back into the fight by boxing and scoring points. The fight turned into a brawl with two minutes gone in the third. Audie buzzed Benoit with a left-right combination to the head with Benoit showing a good chin by shaking the punches off.

Both boxers fought through fatigue, continued to trade, and made it a tough fight to score as the fourth and final round entered the final minute. A huge shot left hand to the head by Audie with around :50 left in the fight had Benoit ready to go. Benoit was able to survive to the bell in a barn burner. Benoit took the fight on one weeks notice.

Audie said after that his cardio was “sh-t” but that he had a fun time!

Final scores read 39-37, 39-37, 38-38 for Cayman Audie by majority decision.

“The Irish Virus” Josh Clark (now 8-1) of Fridley, MN won a five round unanimous decision over Mike Fowler (now 10-58) in a 5 round lightweight bout.

Clark was the aggressor throughout the fight and controlled the action with a higher work rate and speed of movement. Fowler, a southpaw was tricky at times as the veteran of 67 fights. He landed a few trap counter punches in the fight.

Fowler continued to look to counter and had his best round also in the fifth but still lost the round.

The final scores read 50-45 on all three cards in favor of Clark.


Andrew Griggs of Duluth, MN (now 1-0) knocked out Paul Burgin (now 0-2) :30 into the first round in a super lightweight bout.

Griggs landed a check left hook followed by body shots that hurt Burgin. A hard right hand followed by a left hook and flurry of punches sent Burgin to the canvas. Mark Nelson stepped in to stop the fight as Burgin tried to stumble to his feet.

Dennys Reyes (now 3-5-1, 1 KO) of Minneapolis, MN and Richard Carmack (now 15-16-2) fought to a draw over four rounds in the opening bout at the Grand Casino Hinckley, MN.

Carmack started strong, standing his ground in the center of the ring and scoring with lead left hooks. Reyes did well to avoid the big shots of Carmack who weighed 392 pounds to Reyes’ 240. Reyes circled and popped his jab, scored to the body and head as the bout went on. Reyes looked fresh as the bout came to a close while Carmack looked frustrated with the movement of Reyes as blood dripped from his nose. Final Scores read 39-37 Carmack, 40-36 Reyes, 38-38 draw
