RONDALE HUBBERT GOES SIX ROUNDS IN POINTS LOSS, SECURES ANOTHER BOUT IN TWO WEEKS
Nineteen-year-old southpaw Isaiah Efrain Riquelmy (7-1, 4 KO’s) won by unanimous decision over Rondale Hubbert (15-27-3, 9 KO’s) in a six round super light weight bout last Saturday, November 4, 2023 at the Casino Miami Jai-Alai, Miami, Florida. The bout is part of Don King Productions Pay Per View show featuring three world title fights and celebrates King’s 92nd birthday.
Hubbert returned six months after a second achilies tear injury and had a good showing against his taller and younger opponent with counter punches to the head. As was expected, Hubbert was less mobile than in the past but counter-punched nicely while trading with Riquelmy. The Minnesotan’s best moment came in round five after landing a short right hook that dazed Riquelmy. All three judges turned in scores of 60-54 in favor of Riquelmy. Riquelmy bounced back after suffering his first professional loss to Benigno Aguilar last June.
“Man, just wanna say thanks for all the love and support. No excuses, I fought good but not good enough. I can say I set my mind on a goal to return to the ring and I did that against a tough young prospect so I’m proud of that.”

Hubbert did well enough to earn another fight in less than two weeks which will be back in Florida where he will face 31 year old southpaw Joseph Fernandez (16-5-3, 6 KO’s) in an 8 round super lightweight bout. Making a comeback to corner Hubbert will be his coach John Hoffman.
