Rondale Hubbert Seaks Title in Iowa Tonight!
Rondale Hubbert (13-18-1) of Minneapolis, MN (training out of Duluth, MN) is hours away from meeting Shawn West (7-2) of Iowa in the main event of “Double Trouble” at the Mississippi Fairgrounds in Davenport, Iowa. The fight can be viewed live presented by Extreme Maximus Boxing HERE beginning at 6:30 PM. There will be twelve bouts in all with Hubbert-West being the final of the night.
The former MN state 140 pound champion Hubbert has been seeking a big fight that can get his career back on track which he believes will happen tonight. It’s an interesting bout with Hubbert being the more experienced and more technically skilled boxer on paper. West is the hometown fighter and naturally bigger. West can box and is extremely tough while coming to boxing after competing for years in MMA.
It’s definitely not an easy fight but then again none of my fights are” said Hubbert. “The odds are stacked against me, he’s in his backyard, he’s a bigger fighter and he’s tuff but his overall boxing IQ isn’t as high as mine. No disrespect to him it’s just that I’ve been in the Ring with way better and bigger fighters in there hometown and I’ve performed very well. I have nothing to lose and all the pressure is on him.”
“He may have fought people better than me, but he’s never beaten anybody better than me,” West added. “He better be ready to work … he’s going to have his hands full with me in my hometown.”
Hubbert recently enrolled in college to be a personal trainer and many of his classes have been teaching him about sports science which includes different ways to prepare and get in shape. He says that he has been working smarter, not harder which he credits for him being in better physical condition for this fight. Joining Hubbert tonight will be old coach John Hoffman and Jacquez Davis.
“They have been a big part of my career and I always seem to perform better with these guys by my side. It’s like getting the family back together for one last big bang for me. To break an 11 fight losing streak with a title win would be amazing and the thought of that drives me. As always I would like to thank everyone that still follows and supports me. It’s been a long career and we are still making the main event. Lets bring this belt home.”
