STEWART READY TO DELIVER TONIGHT IN IOWA
Cruse “The Hitman” Stewart (7-0, 6 KO’s) of Cedar Rapids, Iowa and fighting out of Minneapolis, Minnesota plans on making the most of his return home tonight at the River Center in Davenport, Iowa. Stewart meets 31 year old Jarvis Williams (8-3-1, 5 KO’s) of Saint Louis, Missouri in a six round middleweight bout. Stewart-Williams and the rest of the card will be streamed live for free at the following link CLICK HERE. The action begins at 6:55 PM CST.
The boxers weighed in last night at Gilly’s Corner Tap in Davenport, Iowa. Stewart, who turns 32 in March, weighed in at 161 lbs. His opponent Williams was heavier at 164 lbs.
Also on the card (view the line-up here) will be Stewart’s 1-2 Boxing LLC teammate Middleweight Antonio Woods (3-0, 3 KO’s) also of Iowa. Woods weighed in at 160 pounds while his opponent Taurean Bogguess (debut) was 165.
It was announced the other day that Stewart had just signed a multi-year promotional contract with Salita Promotions and Rapacz Promotions. As Covid was taking over the nation last March, Stewart picked up a significant and hard fought victory over skilled Illinois boxer Martez McGregor (then 8-3) at the Grand Casino in Hinckley, MN. He takes on a similar challenge in Williams who’s only losses came against good competition. “The Hitman” Stewart wrapped up another training camp with former world Champion Caleb Truax and says he is ready to put on a top notch performance in front of his hometown fans in Iowa.
“I believe I want to be the best and also father time is knocking at my door by me turning 32 in March. I have to stay busy” Stewart told Minnesotaboxing.com.
“Truax played such big roll in camp for myself because he’s helped grow my confidence even higher and also Antonio Woods was in camp with us growing as well. It’s about us all getting better. My opponent on paper is a tough dude. With Caleb in camp again I trained and took the punishment in to deliver my fans a stoppage on Saturday night! That will be huge because Williams has never been stopped or knocked out. We will let the punches go and it will come.”
“I want to thank my love ones and friends and family. I will be victorious come Saturday in front of my home crowd and look forward to putting on a beautiful show. Thank you and see you then.”
Stewart’s manager Eric Hinderaker says he expects a tough test from Williams for Stewart and is excited to see him and Woods compete in from of a live (limited capacity) crowd.
“Jarvis Williams is a good fighter from St. Louis who just gave Nikita Ababiy a tough test on DAZN. The fight is 6 rounds at 160 pounds. It’s another good step up fight for Cruse” said Hinderaker.
“Cruse and Tony both had good camps and did plenty of rounds in camp with Caleb Truax. I feel like I’ve got two of the best middleweight prospects in the US in Cruse and Tony and I’m excited to see them fight in front of live fans!”
