Former blood and guts professional boxer Van Goodman of Minneapolis was a regular on the Grand Casino stage. He boxed there 10 times from 2007 to 2018. COVID nearly took Goodman out recently but like the warrior he was in the ring, Goodman out-punched the near death complications. Now he’s ready to support the next generation of Minnesota boxing, only this time from outside the ring.

” There was a time when I thought that I would never see a live boxing show again so I’m super pumped that the Grand Casino Hinckley Friday Night Fights are back in action” said Goodman. “I love watching new boxers get started in their careers and enjoy the excitement even though I’m going to be on the fan side of the fights from now on. I’m just really glad the fighters get such a nice format to display there skills and get to work with one of the best combat commission’s around. I’ll see you at the fights. “

“I’m excited to be part of bringing professional boxing back to Grand Casino Hinckley” said Cory Rapacz.  “At its apex, “Grand Friday Night Fights” was one of the top fight series in the entire country and I have no doubt that we’ll bring it back there.  I can’t thank the leadership of the Mille Lacs Band of Ojibwe and Grand Casino enough for this opportunity.  We have a lot of great fights planned for the show and a lot of fighters that are excited to get back to work.  It’s been a while, but I look at February 14th as the first step in bringing Minnesota boxing back to prominence and giving local fighters the opportunities they’ve been lacking over the last few years.”

The Grand Casino Hinckley has two more professional boxing shows planned for 2025. Tickets are available now at www.grandcasinomn.com or by visiting the casino box office. Prices begin at $50 for general admission, $75 reserved, $125 ringside, $800 tables.
