TIM TSZYU FACES TERRELL GAUSHA IN TITLE ELIMINATOR MARCH 26 IN MPLS
The Minneapolis Armory answers the bell for another round of professional boxing on Saturday, March 26, as Tim Tszyu, one of the sport’s hottest prospects, makes his long-awaited U.S. debut at the historic Minneapolis venue.
Tszyu (20-0, 15 KOs), of Australia, faces 2012 U.S. Olympian Terrell Gausha (22-2-1, 11 KOs), a Cleveland native now fighting out of California, in the main event of the Showtime PBC Boxing card at the Armory.
At stake in the main event is an expected world title opportunity against the winner of the much anticipated unification showdown between Jermell Charlo and Brian Castano.
The son of legendary former world champion Kostya Tszyu, Tim Tszyu is already a mandatory WBO world title challenger. He’s coming off a one-sided decision over Takeshi Inoue of Japan last fall.
He faces a tough challenge in the person of Gausha, who is coming off an electrifying March 2021 knockout victory over Jamontay Clark. Gausha challenged Erislandy Lara for the WBA super welterweight title in 2017.
The originally discussed date for boxing’s return to the Armory was April 9th, 2022. The rumor is that WBA World middleweight champion David Morrell would have been that headliner with a possible spot for Caleb Truax somewhere on the card in tune up fight. However, the date has now changed and so has the line up.
Also rumored to be co-featured is Dominican Republic’s Michel Rivera (22-0, 14 KO’s) who is said to be facing Joseph Adorno (14-0-2, 12 KO’s) in a battle of undefeated up and comers
Minnesotaboxing.com has also been told that 35 year old former WBC welterweight champion Victor Ortiz also has a spot on the card.
Joey Spencer (14-0, 10 KO’s) of Union City, CA meets Ravshan Hudaynazarov (19-4, 14 KO’s) of Las Vegas, NV in an 8 round featured middleweight bout.
We will keep you updated as the undercard comes together. Tickets went on sale at 11:00am on Tuesday, March 1, at the Armory box office, 500 S. Sixth St.,
