TRUAX STOPS KELLEY IN ROUND 2
“Golden” Caleb Truax (27-3-2, 16 KO’s) of Osseo, MN dropped late sub Zachariah Kelley (5-16, 5 KO’s) of Earlsboro, Oklahoma twice with body shots en-route to a second round knockout victory on Saturday night at the Milwaukee Center in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
Truax stood a few inches taller than Kelley and landed a couple of hard jabs to begin the bout. Kelley attacked with looping lefts and rights that missed. He did however land a few jabs of his own. Truax picked up his punch output in the second half of the opening round and backed up Kelley with body and head combinations. Truax scored with a hard left to the body that dropped Kelley with seconds remaining in the round.
The Minnesotan Truax did not back off in the second round and continued to stalk Kelley with hard punches. A right uppercut to the head dazed Kelley and Truax followed up with another left to the body that sent Kelley down to the canvas for a second time. Kelley was unable to beat the count and the fight was called off in round two.
“It was great to get back into the ring” said Truax afterwards. “I want to stay as active as possible. It looks like I will be back in October and then hopefully back on TV on a PBC show.”
