UMGG RESULTS FROM THE 2023 NATIONAL GOLDEN GLOVES TOURNAMENT IN PA!
Our Upper Midwest Golden Gloves champions have begun action at the 2023 National Golden Gloves tournament in Chester, Pennsylvania. The boxing action runs from May 8th through May 14th 2023. We will keep you updated on our UMGG boxers as the boxing progresses through the tournament on this page.

FRIDAY, MAY 12, 2023 SCHEDULE (DAY 5) – ACTION BEGINS AT 5 PM CST
Jessica Danielle Radtke-Maltez of UMGG lost a controversial decision to Neida Ibarra of KS/OK in a female 132 pound semi-finals bout. Many felt Jessica had done enough to win but the judges saw things differently. Still, she takes bronze back home to celebrate with an UMGG team that boxed amazingly.

Hser Htoo of UMGG lost a 5-0 decision to Amos Thang of IND in a 112 pound bout. “It was a slick match between the both of them. No standing 8’s or anything like that” said Valenzuela. “Constant flow between both boxers!”
Jessica Danielle Radtke-Maltez of UMGG won by split decision over Kaheil Mishoe-Elliott of NJ in a female 132 pound bout. Valenzuela says that Jessica boxed great with her in and out movement and how she kept the pressure on all bout.
Alexander Andriano-Allard of UMGG lost by unanimous decision to Kentrell Rouser of DET in a 139 pound bout.
“Alex lost by a unanimous decision but gave the Detroit champ a run for his money.” Said Valenzuela. “With his explosive power, he connected some great shots that pushed the champ back. Great effort out of Alex!”
Dominic Badillo of UMGG lost a split decision to Lance Smith of DET in a 147 pound bout.
“I personally had him winning the fight against Detroit but the judges had different views.” Said Valenzuela. “He out boxed Detroit for the first two rounds and ended with a absolute war on the last round. Great fight and showing by Dominic Badillo!”
Angel Levering of UMGG lost a unanimous decision to Chelsi Davis of RM in a female 165 pound bout.
Levering issued the following statement on social media to her fans… “Took a good loss! Definitely a tough opponent. I think I wasn’t bad for having a kid two months ago lol but no excuses! Learned a lot being here at National Golden Gloves once again!! Love this sport with all my heart and I’ll be back in the ring soon.”
Cadin Vowels of UMGG lost by split decision to Peniteekosi Tatafu of RM in a 203 pound bout. Great experience for his first National Tournament!
TUESDAY, MAY 9, 2023 SCHEDULE (DAY 2) – ACTION BEGINS AT 5 PM CST
Zaro Snyder of UMGG lost a 4-1 decision to Eric Martinez of PA in a 125 pound match.
Jeroson Garduward of UMGG lost a 3-2 decision to Eric Emery-Freeman of IA in a 132 pound match.
Dominic St. Clair Badillo of UMGG won a 3-2 decision over Takir Bolden of PA in a 147 pound match in ring 1, bout #16. This will be Badillo’s second bout of the tournament.
Knowledge Johnson of UMGG lost a 5-0 decision to Julian Delgado of TX in a 176 pound match in ring 2, bout #22.
Hser Htoo of UMGG won a 5-0 decision over Jiovanni Gonzalez of RM in a 112 pound match.
Donarie Nunez of UMGG lost a 5-0 decision to Sierra Martinez of CO/NM in a 125 pound female match in ring 3, bout #2
Alexander Andriano-Allard of UMGG won a 5-0 decision over Francisco Roman of KC in a 139 pound match in ring 3, bout #13
Eduardo Valenzuela-Rivera of UMGG lost a decision to Javier Meza of TX in a 156 pound match.
“It was a great battle with the champ!” Said Valenzuela. “Brought some respect to Minnesota by checking him back and landing some of my own clean and strong punches. Went toe to toe with the champ and we learned a lot. Growing with each experience!”
MONDAY, MAY 8, 2023 SCHEDULE (DAY 1)
Dominic St. Claire Badillo of UMGG won a decision over Deontay Brown of STL in a 147 pound bout in ring 1, bout 8.
Eduardo Valenzuela-Rivera of UMGG won a decision over Sean Waugh of TOL in a 156 pound bout in ring 2, bout 10.
“My fight personally was a brawl” said Valenzuela. “Ohio was keeping the pressure but I was out scoring and out punching him. I ou-tboxed him during the first two rounds and gave him an eight count the third round after landing three consecutive body shots. I face off with Texas next so it’ll be a good fight where I will need to box without mistakes to out score and win those rounds.”

Daveone Olive of UMGG lost a 5-0 decision to Donte Layne of NYM in a 165 pound bout in Ring 2, bout 17. Bracket Begins at 5 PM CST.
“ Got matched up with the #1 dude in the nation 11x national champion, 1x international champion and 4x USA member, he took home the W but I went all three rounds with him rocked him in the 2nd and put the pressure on him in the 3rd. Couldn’t have had a better learning experience upset with the outcome but the process of it all was way more important! Thanks to everybody who tuned in, I’ll be back better and wiser journey ain’t over yet”
